Large Lum Chinese with 4-inch blade and Green G10.

I would love a larger Lum Chinese, beautiful design.

Green is good, the specific material I'm not picky about.

I would like a frame lock, but a thicker liner lock would be good too.

I have one of the original Lum folders, I like it a lot, the only thing I thought was, "it could be a little bigger". I got big hands, and I use my blades on wood pretty frequently, so I sometimes need a little more power. A bigger knife with a bigger handle would be fantastic.

The green G-10 Lum looks great. but, I think a 4 inch blade is too big. A blde size slightly bigger (one-fourth to one-half inch) than the original Lum would be fine.

Plus, as mentioned earlier, a Lum with a lock back (or compression lock) would be great.

Noooo, go smaller.

G10 is OK, but I really liked the cnavas micarta on the new classic sebenzas.

Also I agree that it needs a different lock.

Agree... larger is not better for the Lum. How bout frame lock?

Seem to be an interesting design, is the blade profile flat all the way from spine to edge? I would like that to be a thin profile as well, preferrable no more than 3 mm on the spine, that would make it a serious cutter.

Setting aside discussion of the ZDP sprint run, which is a separate subject. What do you guys think of the idea of the large model Lum Chinese folder with the 4" blade, and green G10 scales?

I am in for buying a larger Lum with G10 or micarta handles. Linerlock is just fine with me, perhaps imbedded in the G10 to keep the weight down, or a set up similar to the Military.

I think the lines of the knife don't permit a lockback. It was discussed before the original production Lum Chinese was released.

What about a red handle Lum, it's the color of Chinese power.....heck all that Kong-fu masters wear red when they are fighting challengers............

Maybe a red G-10 handle?.............I know Case knife got orange G-10 in some of their slipjoint knives.

I would absolutely buy into a larger Lum Chinese. I have been dreaming about this one from his website:

I would be happy with a liner lock - but what the heck, if we can dream, I would want a frame lock. IMHO I don't think that a ball lock would work with the Chinese folder, at least as far as aesthetics are concerned.

Would this have a ZDP blade too??

Right now ZDP is only being used in sprints. I don't know if they'll ever use it in regular production.

I dont know what they (Spyderco) is afraid of.........the even Hattori is bold enough to use cowry-x in their knives so does Fallkniven. Do a survey, and run limited production, I bet you get enough customers who would buy out that first stock of Chinese Lum with cowry-x and green :D micarta handle.

Framelock. Why bother with a linerlock in 2006? Besides, the Spydie catalog is very light on "regular" framelocks.

I'd recommend Micarta over G10, but either one would be OK. But I doubt I'd buy it if it were a linerlock. I already have the original Lum as my single example of a linerlock.

I also think 3.5" instead of 4" would make it a much more popular knife. If you're going to go above 3.5", you might consider making it a real giant and going over 4".

I'm a heretic, 2.5 or 2.75 inch blade would be best, IMO.

I think it's true if you want a big chinese knife, just get a manix.

Agreed! I would love to see a 2.5" bladed Lum Chinese. I wouldn'd be able to get my credit card out fast enough!:D

I agree with stay at four inches. I'm tired of the popularity of tiny little knives, and Spyderco makes plenty of them. I'm a grown man with grown man hands, dammit, and more cutting edge is always welcome. The little knife people already have the ZPD Chinese to worry about.

Now, the green G10 sounds great, and I would opt for a compression lock on it. That lock is fantastic and isn't used nearly enough.

I'll buy it however it comes though, because I adore the design.
