large multitool?

i carry a gerber freehand and im a military helicopter engine mechanic i love how i can get the tools out without opening the pliers part. the knife, the saw, the scissors, and the large screw driver/ruler are easy to get out but the smaller 4 tools require a bit of dexterity to get out but its a great tool.

The Surge is a nice tool, but compared to the Charge TTi or really any of the Charges, the fit and finish isn't as good. Also the blade steel has more carbon in it, so not good if you live in a moist environment. However the Surge does have a more usable pair of scissors and an awl, as well as replaceable saw and file bits.

Really depends on what you plan on doing with it.

I've got my new super tool 300 and now my hands are black.

also i was hoping it would come with the new larger molle sheath that the MUT comes with but it's the smaller molle sheath.

Get yourself a LM Surge. (If you'll notice, I'm a Moderator, so I KNOW what I'm talking about.:D.:D.).

I almost fell over laughing at that one. My respect for you has now risen from 'dust-under-the-rug' level, to 'coffee-stain-on-the-rug' level. :D

Okay, back on topic here after my infraction (:p): I have a Surge, with all the assorted bits & replaceable saw- & file-blades that come with it. It took a while to grow on me, but it's the one I go to now for just about everything - even cutting limbs (with the saw) off the Christmas tree this year.

My only complaint is the weight, and handles were finished too smooth: hard to keep a proper grip with wet hands. I remedied the smoothness, and I'm okay with the weight now, when I compare the overall usefulness of the tool. I blow the tool out with canned air if it gets wet, and then oil the joints with mineral oil; rust hasn't been an issue so far.

I carry an SOG Paratool in my EDC Maxpe Fatboy. But when I switch to the Jumbo I carry a Surge. If I had only one to choose, It'd be the Surge.

the one thing that i don't like about the ST300 so far is the file rubs against the inside of the tool when i open it but that shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Yeah my wave does that and it's kind of annoying.

Surge is the only way to fly...

The black oxide coming off on your hands is only 'cuz its new. After awhile that will not be a problem.

On my ST300 the file doesn't rub, in fact everything on it works perfectly. OTOH, the file on my TTi just touches the inside handle. At first it annoyed me, but with long time use, I have developed a habit of pressing the file inward slightly when it goes in or out so it doesn't rub, something I don't even think about while doing. If the Charge ever requires other service, I will make mention of the file issue with Leatherman warranty, but otherwise I don't really care.

I'm gonna tell you what a lot already have said before - SOG or Swisstool
