Hi Folks im new to the forum but in a short time i have decided i would like to try a Sebenza. After hours of drolling on my keyboard ive finally decided i wanted a wood inlay Sebenza but do not know which one to get the large or small model. My main concern would be if the large is too big or heavy for EDC.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kdawg

I carry a large classic and it's just right for me. I guess it depends if you prefer a larger blade/ handle combo or smaller. I you have large hands the small Sebbie might not be the way to go and vice versa.

Large I say but you will end up with both in the end :D IMO the large is THE sebenza but the smalls are also very nice.

I love my small micarta sebenza. It fits my hands great and I have medium to large hands. When i carry it I forget its there because its slim and light. For me its the perfect edc.

I have both and I'd personally recommend a small if you only plan on owning
one.

That's just my preference though since I have small hands, it all depends
on what size is best for you physically.

I'd say the Large, i had quite a bit of buyers remorse getting the small. It felt smaller in the hand than i thought it would be. I did start to appreciate the quality of it soon after, but nonetheless i returned it and got a large. It was a much more satisfying experience getting the large, i'm glad i went with the large even though i usually prefer smaller folders. The large isn't even that big to be honest.

You are going to get all sorts of answers.
I have a few of each and I enjoy both sizes. I use to only carry my smalls but find myself carrying the large more. The large carries very nice clipped into the inside of your pocket. It's neither heavy or bulky. The small is small but it fits it my hand very nicely. I have med/large hands and it's not too small. My hands are very "muscular" too. There hasn't been a task my small couldn't handle whereas my large has been too big on a rare occasion. I don't know if I could decide if I were told I could only have one. Maybe I'd choose to keep the small.
Where do you plan on carrying it? To work? If so what type of work do you do? These are things that may help us give you better insight as to which would better suit your needs.
Oh and welcome to CRK's. They simply are fantastic knives and it is a dangerously expensive addiction/hobby. You can't own just one.

I find the large easy to EDC. You may need to consider blade length and the legal issues of having a blade of over 3 inches long. I live in Orange County and work in L.A. and always keep the large clipped to my left front pocket. I haven't had any problems and I'm not too concerned. I think in L.A. county/city, greater than 3 inches may be an issue but personally I don't worry. I commute on the train and frequently am in contact with sheriffs deputies and have never had an issue but then again I mind my own business. They seem to have more important worries/concerns than what is clipped in my pocket.;)

Think about the kind of knife you like to carry now. That's what I did.
I carried a Delica or a mini-Griptilian so I gravitated toward the small.
I bought both but prefer the small for EDC.

Well guys thanks for the input,,i wish i had enough $$ for both but i dont at the moment.Im rather tall 6'3"but have rather small hands for my height.I work in a factory but have other knives for beating the snot out of at work.
I am a avid outdoorsman and theres no doubt that the Sebe would gut and skin more than a few deer in its lifetime,,maybe do some deboneing duties as well.

The knives i normally carry are basically in the 3-4"blade size and the Sebe's fall right in that category.Im leaning toward the small classic right now with coco inlays and satin blade.

I can see how these Sebenzas can be totally addicting,,,i havent purchased one and im already thinking which one i want next,,,,,so many fine knives to choose from!

Thanks for the input again, this forum is priceless for great info from knowledgeable members.

If you're only going to go for "either or" I'd get the large. I personally find the small more of a gents sized knife, kind of in line with
the Mnandi. I do carry and use my Small Sebenzas but get far more use out of the large and even more so the Umnumzaan. :)

i have medium hands, and always found the small just a bit too small.

i own two larges now, and have traded/sold 4 smalls.

the large carries much smaller than other folders with similar dimensions.

I had bought a large a few weeks before I got to handle a small. So when I finally got to see the small in person I was blown away by how small they actually were compared to my large.
The smalls look a lot bigger in the pictures that you see online. At least to me anyways.
I'm glad I went with the large because if I had bought the small first I would've returned it. I tend to like bigger knives in general.

I do however think the small makes a nice gents knife that you can use around non knife people with out freaking them out.

In my opinion the large is more of a work horse.

For a first sebenza, i would say go with the large, although i sold my large and ended up with a small regular and it is perfect for me...as said before, you will prolly end with a few CRKs around;)

The more I think of it the more I think for the first one I should order a large,,,the large it is! Thanks for the help guys,,,any preferred CRK dealers out there?

I would say that is the right choice to make, I see a small Sebenza in the not too distant future though. :p:thumbup:
