Large regular, Large classic BLADE SWAP

... I tried my hardest to cut myself by jabbing my finger into it...

:D Good job. Sacrifice the body for a good cause. I didn't know the regular blade was a little shorter then the classic. Knowing this I would assume that regular blade/classic handle would be the best fit.

Nice work on polishing the washers. It doesn't take much to throw off the measurements.

If you really don't want the other I will gladly take it off your hands. I've been looking for a good large user.

Yeah, be careful, the regular blade in the classic is more likely to cut you when closed.

FYI:
You must have a shorter blade in your classic than I do, I tried to swap them out one day when cleaning them just to try it out...

My classic blade sticks out quite a bit in the closed position in the regular handle, I'd say at least 4 to 5/16 of an inch.
I could swap mine out someday after I sharpened it down to the point it would fit, would take me awhile though.

The CR DVD video also mentions how if they were swapped, the classic blade will protrude out the back in the closed position.

Wonder if CRK's at some time shortened the blade length on the classic?

doesn't look too bad. i just wonder if you were to send it in for repair/warranty work if they would honor it.

A a fan of the regular blade and the classic handle, I find it to be genius! :D
But I don't like the look of the classic blade on the regular handle. Go figure!

On blade interchangeability in general -- the pivot area indeed has a very tight tolerance loop associated with it. The critical dimensions are measured in tenths of thousandths of an inch, and unless you use a micrometer and are practiced in the proper way to use one, you will not be able to confirm the dimensions. The entire pivot area and lock are, as others have mentioned, hand fitted to insure the pivot action that meets the CRK standard.

In the attempt to exchange one blade for another, the statistics of the situations says that some will work; however, few will operate well enough to meet CRK's outgoing quality standards, and for this reason, we do not recommend blade swapping.

Regarding classic blades in regular handles, the classic blades will nominally make for a safety hazard due to the classic's increased blade length. (I say nominally, because since the Sebenza blades are hand ground, blade length can vary slightly.) This is why CRK does not entertain the purchase of Sebenza blades of a given style swapped with the other style.

it seems like a lot of this information was available already.... where did you find this information fooj? On the CR DVD?

I actually have sharpened my classic blade twice, which probably allowed it to fit inside the regular's handle (albeit, just barely).
