Large Sebenza Unique Graphic September 18 2001 BG-42

Stunning and tasteful collection! Not one in there I would not be proud to own. I gotta ask though, is there not a single 25 in there?

Thanks AKWILD!! It's nice.. But pales in comparison to the Beauty of your home state! I had the great fortune of spending a couple of years admiring the beauty of Alaska in my youth. Nothing compares!! From the Old Russian Capitol in Sitka to the Northern Lights on a sub-zero night near Big Delta. I will never forget the time I spent there fishing on the Keni and Skilak Lake..Climbing the Eklutna Glacier. Ahh to be young again!! (I won't mention the "Night Life" on 4th Street or Muldoon.. the hell I won't) But the thing that sticks out the most in my fading memory is seeing Mount McKinley's frozen slopes on a clear summer day three hundred mile away!! Sorry just re-living a time gone by.:)
All the best, Dave

Thank You Cody!! Nope.. Sorry I have owned two but sold both of them. Still looking for the right one. Maybe a new Micrata Inlay!! ;)

That is a FANTASTIC collection Dave! I got to ask... If you had to pick just one, which is your most favorite that you just couldn't live without?

Thank you for the kind words everyone!! As I have always said since the first day I became a member of this Great CRK Community.. Without the support and encouragement of everyone here, and the ability to share "This thing of ours" it would not be nearly as much fun. The knives are great.. But more than that is the fantastic people from all over the United States, Canada and the World that I have met here on the forum!! No one understands how wonderful this hobby of ours is like you!!
As always, all the best!!
Dave
Ok, here are a few pictures of the collection.. Sorry for the poor quality but the price of a good camera. Well is the price of nice knife!!:)

Nice Dave! What a great collection! I don't want to be this jealous, but I can't help it.

Thanks Rich!! You have quite a collection yourself brother!! And unlike me you use yours!! That after all is what they were designed for. And I respect that!!
All the best, Dave

As always I truly appreciate the kind words but my small collection of 13 or so CRK's doesn't hold a candle to that stunning collection that you have. Thank you for sharing those pics, I really enjoyed drooling over them.

As much as I enjoy using my knives I'd guess that 1/3rd of them just sit in the box at this point, only coming out to be appreciated from time to time. Being that so many of yours are more rare or significant than the ones that I own are I'd find it hard to carry quite a few of your knives. I'd have to pick 2 or 3 out that I really loved and make those the go to blades and just keep the rest around for the sheer pride of ownership. It's quite a collection my friend, though it suppose after posting those pics you'll be receiving a lot of emails from other collectors looking to help you thin it out a bit ;D

Wait a minute, we're you holding out on us? I don't recall seeing the Nyala in the pics.
You sly devil ;D

Thanks Rich!! I forgot all about the Nyala!! its still sitting in the safe. I keep it In the original box because its to dam big to put in my trays!!:) But never fear its still here!! :D

You would think that it would be a hard question to answer Steve.. and my answer may come as a bit of a surprise considering my Avatar is an Umfaan.. and my passion is the Zaan..and I do have a few very nice CRK'S but if I had to pick just one it would be my Large Sebenza "Regular" from September 29th 1998 with the plain finish and Stone washed BG-42 blade. It's not NIB like most of my other knives, don't get me wrong its nice.. maybe 95% or a little better.. never used but handled.. to me it is the perfect example of what the Sebenza is all about. It actually still has the price tag on the box $349.95 RFG SAFE&KNIFE It was the first Large "Regular" I acquired. As I recall the Gentleman who was selling it had a bunch of fixed blades (Randal's and the like) and the Large Sebenza. The description in the listing said "Original owner I don't recall ever using the knife and it has been in my safe since I bought it.. but looking at it I may have used it once or twice.. I sent a message to the guy and asked if he would consider selling it outright (it was on e-pay) and if so how much? His response was that he felt that it would be best to just let the auction run and figured it would bring about $400.00. I thanked him for his honesty and told him that I thought he would be pleasantly surprised at the final price. A few days later when the auction had reached a little over $500.00 he sent me a PM "Hello Dave, is there something I don't know about this knife? it's selling for more than my Randal's?" So, I told him believe it or not these knifes (the plain Jane) Sebenzas from that era were kind of hard to come by in that condition with the original box and paperwork etc. He thanked me for the information and wished me luck. I won the knife... and to this day it is my favorite CRK..and the last one I would ever get rid of.. and believe me I have had many offers to buy and trade for it. I have never shared it with the board before probably because I got it before I was a member. Anyway that's the "One" that I would pick if I could pick just one. Its not the nicest, its not the rarest its just my favorite. :D
Sorry for taking the long way around the barn.
All the best, Dave
P.S. Its the fourth one from the top in the Large Regular Pictures.

Thanks for sharing Dave, I knew which ever one was your favorite there would be a fantastic story about it, that's what makes collecting something like this so special, it's not always the item, it's the story behind it and the people you meet. It's great you remember the details behind that one, and it is a fine looking knife.

BTW, did I tell you, nice collection.
