The concept. To many times I have needed a knife with a point but with the in a more controllable location. What comes to mind is when I was cutting a net that was fouled on a boat propeller with a USMC Ka-Bar. The sharpened false edge just caused scaring on the prop shaft, the point was to wide, it got the job done but I knew I could come up with something better. Then there is always the idea of having to cut something (like a seatbelt) away from someones hide.
This is a good sized blade at 4 3/4" cutting edge with a wide flat grind makes short work of big jobs. The handle has been set back so the full length of the blade can bear down on the cutting surface. Also I angled the handle so the point is still in line with the center of the handle. This knife is just as comfortable slicing cheese as it was cutting through heavy rope.
