Large Survival Knife vs. Axe/Hatchet

Not trying to put down anybody but, who in their right mind would want a axe over a kabar/saw combo or other 7-9 inch good quality knife/saw combo.

KNIFE/SAW PROS
-lightweight relatively
-multiple uses (more than axe)
-Hold's a edge better than MOST axes
-Saw beats cutting against the grain of trees (to cut them down for shelter making etc)
- Easier to do finer work(not saying you cant with a axe but it's a lot harder for me
-Safer (for novices)
-Less energy (opinion for me)
-when using the saw you get this dusty material that I believe is good for a flint etc.
-some knives can hammer in stuff

Knife Cons
-you get a bad knife
-slower at splitting w/ the grain
-some knives cant hammer in stuff

AXE PRO"S
-easy to split
-easy to cut down small trees for shelter or fm making(not as easy as saw)
-can do fine work (but harder than the knife)
-when its's wet out its really relatively easy to split (batoning w/ knife I think is less energy consuming)
-Hammer tent stakes etc(my kabar can do that)

AXE CONS
-VERY HEAVY
-Slower than folding saw at cutting down small trees for shelter (in my exp)
- harder to fit in pack (not saying you cant But I dont like having to go through my pack to get one cutting tool, and you have to get a axe w/ a cover to put it in pack. Makes your pack very unbalanced unless you can figure some way to make it perfect.
- cant where it on your belt, like knife (you can on some but it's heavy and I dont like that feeling)

Feel free to add any pro's and cons. Personally, A KNIFE/AXE COMBO is a better decision.

I feel it's best to travel with items that are light yet specialized. While a Busse could easily replace a hatchet or axe, I'd rather have a folder, a fixed blade, and a hatchet. Each item would be used for a specific task.

-My folder of choice would be a yellow-handled Case Sodbuster in CV. Does my menial tasks and is good for delicate work. Very easy to keep a sharp edge.
-Fixed blade would probably be a mora of some sort. Scandi grind makes it easy to maintain and it does tasks that the folder can't.
-Small hatchet for chopping. It'll be good for splitting small chunks of wood and getting to dry timber while being relatively lightweight.

TO heavy! What I like is a kabar/mora/folding saw combo(that's what I use). For the amount of hiking I do the hatchet or axe isn't good but it's terrible. Not to put down any axe users I just dont like the idea of carrying something very heavy that Is more dangerous but just a tiny bit faster at splitting (not anything else).
