I am looking for a large (10-12 inch blade) tanto of good quality. The only real option I have seen is the Magnum 12 by Cold Steel. Any alternatives?

american tip style tanto? If you mean either kind then I can help you a lot easier.

I want a dedicated tanto not just a tanto point. Similar to the Cold steel magnum tantos. Shorter than a wakizashi. I like the idea of the tops but I have an Anaconda and those things are heavy.

I feel like you are looking for the custom route, but the Becker bk-5 might work for you. Heck of a knife.

hanwei has a tactical tanto on their page. Idk if it's available yet but it seems right up your alley.

I did some reading on hanwei and they seem to use quality materials but I am concerned with the fact that they are made in China.

Don't be, they make very good quality stuff for their pricepoint. Any of their tantos should serve you well.

I have issues with buying CRKT. I know I shouldn't be so hung up on made in china but I am.
I could build you a Tanto made in USA
However I doubt it will be better than even the $1.97 Walmart knifes since it would be my first blade.
Just trying to say, not all Made in USA has to be good and not all China stuff is crap.
Made In Germany was at some point kind of a warning label in the UK for cheap copied products, kind of like how Made in China is perceived by many today.

I understand that some items made in China are quality. Which is why I asked about the hanwei as opposed to dismissing it outright. It just sets off warning bells.
