Hi all! I'd like to do some traveling soon, and I'd like to stop by some of the largest or most interesting stores in the US that have a physical store front. Upper end, rare, custom, and quirky stuff is a must for this list.

I'm aware of Museum Replicas for swords and such.

I'm aware of Cold Steel parking lot sales.

I'm aware of Smokey Mountain Knife Works in TN.

As a blade person I'm definitely aware of online stores and such like Kult of Athena, Albion, BladeHQ, etc, but are there any other physical store fronts one could pop into and talk to someone who actually knows the difference between 440B and Maxamet?

Knives Plus in Amarillo, TX! Small, but mighty. They definitely know the difference. Very knowledgeable, love to talk knives, great selection, and they have the most reasonable brick and mortar prices I’ve ever seen anywhere.

My favorite knife store, hands down. Tell Troney Will sent ya.

Ford Hardware in Marietta Ga, no online presence. They always have a table at Blade Show in ATL

Grand Prairie Knives in Troy, Illinois. Just off of I-55. They do have an online presence but everything you see in stock online is available in the store.

Nothing but knives and knife related items although they do carry a few pens and some flashlights.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff and a Bladeforum supporting dealer. There's a great BBQ joint a stone's throw away on the other side of the highway. Fire-N-Smoke BBQ. Both highly recommended.

Country Knives in Intercourse, PA. Ok staff but large selection for a place in Amish country.

Edgeworks in Frederick, MD is very nice and friendly staff.

And the Spyderco factory store in Golden, CO.

Old School Knifeworks in Otto, North Carolina comes to mind. They've got a large selection of new-old-stock folders along with a large assortment of fixed blades, sharpening supplies and knife making supplies.

Kittery Trading Post in Maine had the best selection I've seen in person–which isn't saying much. I haven't been in a while, but I remember seeing many ZTs and Benchmades. Spyderco won't sell to them however.

Ooopsie. You’re right. I haven’t been in some time. That’s too bad. It was always a treat to visit there on my way up from San Diego to Los Angeles.

I'm on travel and going to check the Spyderco store out today. Excited. Just have to finish work training.
