Well, I've started scrounging parts for a PID forge that would have more capability than my ATLAS MINI. But, that may be some time down the road to completion, so, I was wondering what was the largest billet possible with my current forge and still achieve satisfactory results. I'm interested in San mai and simple (if there is such a thing) Damascus. I think I read that Charles, the maker of the Atlas Mini has achieved some success welding with the mini, and I realize my results will be limited, but I'd really like to start experimenting/practicing small welds.
Thanks in advance.

Pretty decent size. This billet was really enough to make two 8" blades and was 5 layers. You're not going to start with a 32 layer and only fold 3x, but you could easily start with 8 layers and fold 5x to get 256 layers.

Excellent, thank you Charles!
