Larry Fuegen Buckaroo Bowie

^^^ :p Indeed.

I keep coming back to this but I can't think of anything to write. I'm just awe struck.

Thanks guys for the positive comments.
Here's another excellent image from Buddy.

Great knife and photo. agree re the idea of only silver as gold would detract from the buckaroo concept. Larry is always doing great knives and you have one of them Kevin.

Well I don't even like the nameplate but everything else on it is so perfect that it has to be one of the nicest bowies I've ever seen, EVER!. I love the blade shape, the guard, materials, engraving on the knife and sheath. WOW!!

Ray, I usually prefer a maker's mark to be more subtle or not one of the first elements noticed at a glance, however I'm like this one as I see it as more a design element than just a maker's mark. I also like Bruce Bump's football shaped mark which he uses on his damascus blades for the same reason.

I like the last photo ALOT!
So I hear your gonna carry this one?? ;)

No I won't be carrying this one. I like the last photo too. Buddy sent me the last photo (bowie in the sheath) this morning. I will post it up after while.

Thanks for all the positive posts.

carry it to the grave, more like:D
she's a keeper!

Buddy finished up the photos. Received this one this morning and love it.
Thanks Buddy for all the effort you put into this project.

Totally awesome, Kevin! What a great addition to your collection. I am not that familiar with a lot of Larry's work, but from what I have seen, this is one of my favorites. His talent just blows me away! Congratulations on a terrific addition to your collection.

I appreciate Kevin asking me to shoot this stellar example of Larry Fuegen's work and I appreciate all the nice comments about my images. Larry's history and explaination about the Buckaroo Bowie provide good context for understanding this period piece's design and ornamentation. While I appreciate a beautiful knife for simply being beautiful, I am especially drawn to blades that have historical connections or involve an interesting story. What we have here is just such a creation, conceived and built by a renound maker who is at the top of his game. It doesn't get any better than this - different maybe, but not better.

Since the thread is back up again, I though you may like to see some work in progress photos of Larry creating the sheath. Everything is done by hand /simple hand tools including the stitching.

Thanks Chuck, John.
Here's the last of the sheath "WIP" photos. Particularly Larry making the sterling silver throat & tip.
