Larry Fuegen's latest

Explain what? No reason for you to be circumspect in questioning my statement of opinion. You expressed your opinion earlier in the thread and I am expressing mine. I think that's pretty simple.

Bob, I didn't wanted to ruffle your feathers but I really didn't understood the last part of your statement. Now I do.

I am going beyond that. I am regarding his work as art that I do not care for in general.

Bob...

1. Larry's knives are knives FIRST....with the exception of some of the more ornate, and by function become primarily art, goblin/grotesque knives. If you look at the daggers, bowies, hunters and folders, you will see that without the carving and engraving, they are totally useable designs....they are designs NOT removed from hard work as a factor...sharp edges on handles smoothed, comfortable in hand, or on the belt, SHARP and pointy.

2. Knifemaking skills-wise, Larry Fuegen may be(this could be debated until the end of time)THE MOST complete living knifemaker thus far, this includes design, and business approach.

3. Guess I won't have to show you my Fuegen knives any time soon, lol.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

STeven, if you show me yours I will show you mine:cool::thumbup::D

Marcel

PS I totally agree with your statement by the way.

Steven and Marcel - I do not disagree with anything anyone here has said, other than "THE MOST complete living knifemaker thus far" - though it was preceded by the word perhaps, in all fairness.

Marcel - I apologize if we were not communicating well. It can happen and if I have given any offense in the manner of my communication, please accept my apologies.

I was simply expressing my opinion of his artistic expression, as others have done. I think all things deserve balance. For anyone to think that Larry Fuegen's work is universally loved by all would be a misinterpretation of fact.

Bob, naturaly your apologies are accepted...and of course you are entitled to your own opinion:thumbup:

Yeah...finally a kumbaya moment for me here;)

I don't particularly care for Larry's goblin models at least in respect to my knife interest, however I do see them as beautiful and significant "Art Objects".

Now in as far as a complete knifemaker, I would have to agree that anyone would be hard pressed to name a knifemaker that has the diverse talent and has mastered the multiple skills that Larry has.

When you think about it, in relationship to custom knives what has Larry not done and more importantly not done extremely well? I would put the quality of his knives and versatility of his designs up against anyones. He is an excellent engraver, carver, jeweler, stone artisan, damascus forger, bluer, silversmith, goldsmith, woodworker and very possibly the finest sheathmaker in the world.

Now I just have to get one of his knives. ;) I do have an order in with him for a bowie/sheath/spurs/display set.
