Larry always beats me to the best questions. I wouldn't mind so much except he's always right! BUT, who can tell me WHO is he quoting when he posts his quote? And Larry, the way I remember it is:

"He is no fool who exchanges that which he cannot keep for that which he cannot lose".

Either way it's great one, but it only means something to you when you have "that which one cannot lose"

Is he quoting the great Vern Taylor?

Vern, I think it was Jim Elliot who said that. He was one of five missionaries killed by the Auca Indians of Ecuador in the late 1950s. His wife, Elizabeth and young daughter went back later and led many of the Aucas to Christ. He was so right because we may attain great things of this world and loose it all but if we have Christ we have that which we neve loose. Thanks again to buck for lifting the Senior Partner. I have used that testimony in revival services to illustrate what it means to not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Russell got it! Thanks for the compliment Greg, but I'm just a latecomer to this "club", and it is the only one that is truly important. Yes, that was what Jim Elliot had placed in his high school yearbook. He was right! We all can make the choice to exchange this earthly life, give it to God, and receive in exchange an eternal life in Heaven; only because the price for it has already been paid by the Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. If anyone wants to know how you too can exchange "what you cannot keep" for "what you cannot lose" contact me at vtaylor@orland.net
