I have two Spyderco knives with SS handles. One needs minor scratches removed and the other has some laser engraving that I would like removed as well. I don't want to do the work myself. What type of shop would do this for me? Spyderco dealer, gun shop, metal shop, etc?

Thanks

I'd give the handles a brushed finish. It's easy to do and can easily be touched up.

dont even bother, its normal for the ss handle spydercos to scratch easily, over time it will look cool from all the different use marks, it will give the knife character. it wont affect the function of the knife. its just how they are. even if you spend money and get them redone, you will scratch it up again in no time.

Thanks for the advice. What about removing the laser engraving on the SS handle? Where do you think I could bring it?

Thanks

casaferro, you could have started your own thread. The one you jumped into was from 2003. That's taking necroposting too far.

I'm fairly certain that Spyderco generally buffs out the handles on SS knives sent in for sharpening, but I don't believe they'd be willing to remove laser engraving. However, the only way to know for sure would be to email them or call them during normal business hours. Am sure there are custom makers and/or customizers here who'd be willing to do either. You could also check with jewelry shops and trophy shops locally.

You can easily take the laser engraving off with some 400 grit sand paper then move up in grit until you are happy with the finish.
