Ok I'm now searching for a way to apply my makers mark.
Leaning towards Laser engraving.
Talked to a company , and they had a couple different options.

First a laser engraver( that I believe takes away a depth )
Second a laser etcher( such I believe is on surface and it also colors it)

Any experience in these ways ??
Pros and Cons?

You want the one that takes away more metal, an actual engraving. The surface engraving will wear of very quickly.

Find a shop with a fiber laser. CO-2 lasers will not cut steel. They have a paint that is used with CO-2 lasers that marks the blade, but that comes off.
A stamp is always good- as is finding a used pantograph engraving machine.
Or, you could just etch.

I recommend as Bill to go with the etching. If you use the search you will see a bunch on this.

Give them a piece of blade steel hardened and polished to your final finish

Ask for a sample of each on that piece so you can compare.

I've had the opportunity to use a laser engraving machine on some of my knives. I really love the result. I've found many advantages:
- The size of the mark can be adjusted to the surface you have
- You can adjust the depth of engraving with the same precision
- The thickness of the spot is arround 0.04mm if I remember well so you can have very sharp forms on you mark.
- You can mark any material (as far as I know.) (except translucent materials witch need CO2)

On the exemple below the overall length of the mark is 9mm
