I had quite a bit of trouble with this one. Unflat platen, blazing speeds, burnt steel, warped blade, underground tang. Buuuut, after a lot of persistence and time I finished it, and am proud of it!

It seems that every time you post a knife, my initial reaction to the profile pic is "too angular", but then the perspective shots really set off those facets. Really nice knife, beautiful work.

Hey guys. Thanks for the comments!

Aldo's 1084. Spine is about 0.12" thick at the choil, 0.06" around the tip. Edge thickness 0.005".

Left side is ground almost flat with slight convex all around. The right side is a blended flat grind.

This handle (black paper micarta) is similar to the one I made for my prototype, but with the angles less extreme. It tapers all over, but to a lesser extent. Feels quite good in the hand, at least for me.

Comparison to the Prototype:

Here's the other knife with a Kiritsuke type tip. Similar specs, slightly higher tip.

Aldo's 1084FG
2.3mm spine thickness at choil
0.8 spine thinkness one inch from tip (the square angular part)
0.2 thickness behind edge
Balance point right at the triangular front on handle
Fully tapered tang
Black paper micarta handle
