laserstrike ?s

I am with you Adaman... I think that the placing of this will be a great last ditch fire starter. Jeff and Mike know what they are doing. I think we should trust them.. They do have a little more experience than most of us...

Just my .02 Cents but.....I don't really care for the Plastic sheath on my 3-MIL. To me it feels cheap, and the knife has some wobble when inside of it. I like the function, and design of it, just not the material. I definetly prefer Kydex, and plan to get one for my 3-MIL.

AS far as the HEST having the Storage in the handle, and possibly the LS. I don't see a problem with this either way. I Have not put the space to use on my HEST, but it doesn't mean I won't. And I don't think if the LS does end up with this, there should be any issues with strength, and I think it can't hurt to have some extra space for a rod, cash, or whatever.

I'd prefer something like the old eagle sheath for the 5. The pouch on front would easily hold an esee firekit. Would be perfect.

Whats the timeline on the Laserstrike? Im sure its been mentioned somewhere in the other threads, buts its lost somehwere iin between all the chatter.

Im just gonna make a nice leather sheath with firesteel holder the first week i have it and also going to swap out the scales for some box elder so ship it how you guys want and i will just adapt it to my needs cuz it is AWESOME!

I may just start doing leather at some point for others and upgrade membership. Finally able to hand my work to people and they cant tell which is more expensive compared to some other professional work. The slabs are going to be epoxied on... Looks nicer to me.

Please forgive the Horrible cell phone pics. Doesnt show details too well.
But back on track...i think the LS has great potential. No it will Never be my main go to bushcraft knife. But i think it may fill a gap between some bushcraft chores and some survival chores. But we will have to wait and see. The only change i would make is the choil but alas. I dont work for ESEE and they are going to produce what they will. Will they ever build a TRUE bushcraft knife that keeps to those standards? Prolly not. But it is never 100% tool. Its more on the knowledge we have and how we apply said education. I mean if we were all 100 percent HONEST we could prolly get by with a hunk of flint...or a $15 mora or SAK.

Those scales are nice.....what type of wood?

How did you finish the wood....what type of sealant?

Cocobolo. It is sanded up to 2000. Kinda slick but such a small knife it works just fine. No finish other than a little bees wax on this one. Cocobolo is a very oily wood so seems to polish up very nice. Doing the epoxy you kinda need to wipe down the inner scales with alcohol due to the oily nature of it.

I thought it was cocobolo.....thanks for the tips. If I get around to trying to make handles out of some of the exotic wood I have laying around (I forget what I have at the moment) I might ask you for some advice.

To date there hasn't been an ESEE knife I haven't desired to own. I'm a little up in the air when it comes to the Laser Strike.
