I've been doing some carpentry around the house, trying to fit in some knife projects (playing with Kydex and such) and am realizing that I have way too many tools (& interests) & zero organization - I've been trying to find a plug cutter I know I have & need for a project, but it remains elusive...

Hard to believe, right? This is the first time I've been able to see the top in more than a year - this is clean (embarrassingly enough) for me. So I'm trying to clean up some more, organize (at all) and purge a little, which is time I'd rather spend making and doing stuff, and I am wondering where you in the Beckerhead community (and wannabe's and noobs) do the cool stuff that ends up as photos on this forum -Post your pics please, and if you have a story so much the better. Favorite tools? Other stuff that goes on in those spaces (might be able to tell from the photo that I work on bicycles...)?

OK, GAW part: Since this will be my fifth thread started, this will qualify me for my BH# (hopefully). Since I have all of you to thank (more significant than you know), I will be giving away one new Kershaw Skyline (can't bring myself to part with any Beckers yet) to the BK&T community member (you know who you are - any regular poster to the BK&T forum) who posts the best pic. The winner will be chosen completely on a whim, by me. Photos will also be judged by my 8 & 12 year old girls, so please, try to keep it family friendly. GAW ends next Friday, 10/18, winner chosen soon after. Kitchen table to custom shop and every other space where you make magic happen (ahem, see above) is eligible. Anybody with one messier than mine (judged by me) will be eligible for another GAW of some hardwood BK&T scales - no promises made yet as to delivery. Seriously, look at that mess! I mean, I got a lot going.
Begin!

Oh man tell me about it! I'm almost done organizing my garage, need another table and have 2 power tools still in their boxes :grumpy: I'm in! too bad I didn't take pics of the garage before the organizing started.

I'm pretty sure I got you beat easily for messiness (I'm ashamed to say). I'm not even sure I can bring myself to post a picture of my garage, it's so bad...

Man, mine is a horrible mess. Don't know if I want to show mine either. Lol. Maybe if I clean it up a bit.

Are you satisfied with what you get done in those spaces? Don't put no sugar on it, brothers, that's the point...just man up and post those pics. I'd have taken a photo of mine at it's grandest, chaotic best if I could've found my camera sooner. Work does get done there, regardless of the mess.

Yeah, work gets done. It's just trashed beyond the point of repair, thanks to the copious amounts of steel dust and sawdust in there.

Dust collection, prob one of the better investments I made. I'm not posting mine because i'm ocd about cleaning and organizing, everything has a place. Nice labeled, straightened organized type space. I tell the other noodlehead in the shop that if I have to hunt for something that's not where it is supposed to be I will kill him. Motivational speaking works wonders.

Both parts of my shop are pretty clean, mainly because my neighbours have complained about a "strange" smell which is actually G-10 or micarta and also since my shop is a small slice out of my garage less than 2 meters wide by about 5 or so long cars do park there so I don't like leaving bits of material or anything lying around. My inside workspace is also in my dining room so naturally, that is also kept clean. I'll try and get some pics up.

My garage is a disaster. Every time I get it clean, it junks up again quickly. Often, items that are junking up the rest of the house make their way to the garage during our cleaning bouts.

The table saw. It doubles as a work surface. What you see is my kydex tools lying about, and a water jug from last weekend's campout.

My scroll saw. OK, technically, it's the wife's, though I am the designated operator. Once she discovered I could cut out her craft designs, she stopped using it herself. It's actually cleared off because I've used it the past several nights. The saw is surrounded by stuff. It's amazing what can be done with that thing.

Inexpensive 1x42 grinder. It's outlived the harbor freight one I bought to accompany it. Notice the temporary permanent worktable. On the left is one of my cord boxes, just not put away.

I don't have a "work space" per se, it is a space in my garage where I try to do work but usually end up destroying sh-tuff. So every time I go out there and my wife is looking for me, my daughter says, "He's breaking/ruining stuff again." My wife knows to come to the garage at that point. I'll post up a pic after the weekend (its garage sale weekend) and the workspace is relatively clean at this point, covered with a table cloth.

I used to have a 2 car garage and 2 sheds in the backyard just for my tools and projects... Now all my tools are in a storage unit and I have to get them as I need them and put them back in it when i am done... Someday I will have a place to play again.
Great contest GSoM! good luck to the contestants.

Here are a few of mine. It is always changing and messier now, but I will try to add some more pics latter.

Thanks for posting up your pics. That looks like a space that serves only one master. So....may I ask what the bolt cutters get used for? Nearly everything else looks like it's there for the purpose of knife related work..... just curious.

(one of) Mind's in the basement, and ditto about where stuff gets cleaned to.

That's why they put the word "table" in the name of it!

I will take more pics. I work on my cars too. There are toolboxes more benches and a couple leather stations oh and the beer fridge lol

Mines a "nearly one car" garage. When we moved in the workbench was in there, but no storage, tools or fridge. I could put the Mustang inside and close the door, but to exit the vehicle I had to put the top down, climb onto the workbench, and jump over the hood.
I try to clean the place up after each project - but I'm running out of space to put everything away.
Just picked up a (used and abused) drill press.
Current project, now that I finished the workbench/stand for the press, is a fiberglass speaker enclosure. Been getting the materials and prepping for the big work. Hopefully I'll begin in earnest this weekend. For me, it's a mess.
More pics to follow.

Here's my Dremel workstation, during the BK7/BK14 Micarta Handles project:

Here we go.

Enjoy!

Here is my "new" workshop. It's about three years old, but has taken on a life of its own. "They" say that a pack rat will expand the amount of crap he has to fill any space he has. These pictures are a testament to that old saw. I have been moving stuff in from my father's old shop at my mother's house in preparation of her selling it. It's been coming in faster than I can find homes for all of it and it is just getting stacked when I can find holes. Cramming two shops worth of stuff into one is a challenge in itself.

Right now, projects just aren't moving forward very quickly because I have to keep playing musical chairs with every thing.

First, this is my leather-working and paint bench, an old welding table I got from a VFD that was cleaning house. Currently, I am working on 3 sheaths, a wallet, some experimental molding patterns for metal castings and dabbling with a iPad carrier and a purse for a friend. The paint shaker has taken up residence here as well.

Next, a view to the SW of the table saw supporting the 2 inch sander, a storage box project and some drying dill plants with storage racks and my shop desk in the background. Haven't seen the top of the desk in 2 weeks.

Towards the main door in the NW corner-- just moved the dresser (used for storage), the anvil and stump in this past weekend and have no clue as to where I'll end up with it.

The North Wall. Somewhere under there is my shop sofa.

The movable work bench with tabletop band saw, drill press and vise is not too movable with plywood leaning up on it and a bunch of crap piled around it.

Ive been trying to spending as much time as I can in my shop lately. Here is my KMG, Portaband, sink station, and dust collector.

This kind of my main assembly bench on the other side of the shop where ive been playing with kydex...etc. Also the big wood frame in the middle will be a work island when im done and that will have the heat treating oven and milling machine with CNC conversion.

You can kind of see the BK9, two BK13s, BK24, and a Buck 110 all awaiting work on the bench.

On the back side of the shop I have setup kind of a drilling, wood sanding, and buffing area plus all the belts.

Not pictured is the bandsaw, and woodstove.

Beautiful and functional work spaces everyone. I'm not going to post up my work/reloading bench till I get that bad boy a bit more cleaned up. It's turned into a stropping, sharpening, and stippling zone for my BK2 lately.
