LAST DAY! Let's see those Becker benches/workspaces **GAW**

Oh, I think I gave up on redeeming mine a long time ago. I'm pretty much waiting until I move and can get a larger space which is less enclosed and more full of dust collection systems. Then I'm gonna hose this sucker out good. In the meantime I occasionally sweep and move tools around to marginally more organized locations.

Hope I'm not too late! Lol
My garage is an absolute mess right now.
Any spare time has been spent finishing up my little girls playhouse and wrenching on family members rigs.
Not much time for clean up. But as messy as it is, everything does have a home and it cleans up quickly.

Cool contest Granite. It's kinda neat seeing everyone's work stations.

Well, you are too late....but I'll allow it ('cause I'm a sucker for compliments). Still haven't picked a winner yet, so,......

I think it's kinda cool as well seeing other peoples' workspaces & shops. Lots of interesting pics.

Thank you to everyone for posting your pics. After a long and thoughtful study of these "place(s) where the magic happens" I'd like to congratulate crimsonfalcon07 for making me laugh and for echoing what I think most of us feel sometimes:

Like a new shop will solve the problem....
(PM sent)

To mac_heath goes a pair of wood scales at some point - I liked the kind of grungy utility of it. Like it has come close to being organized a few times but never succeeded...cause..there's stuff to get done!
I'll pm you later. Been cleaning my basement (shop #1) -- it's like I do nothing but swim upstream....

Well, a new shop that I don't have to keep closed and actually CAN install some sort of dust collection that can vent outside would be good. I'm not allowed to do that in my current workspace... So at least I'm hopeful that it will help. Although, let's be honest, my next shop will likely be a mess as well.

Thanks for the contest! Much appreciated.

Thanks! It's been cleaned a few times. Two years ago we put in shelving all around. I swore we wouldn't use the shelves for dumping, and that things would get put away. There's never enough time. I'm always stealing time from something else, so when I do get in the shop, I clean off whatever tool I need, do the work, and move on to whatever I delayed.

My wife and I are also terrible about having too many irons in the fire. So there are projects I started and things half done. Prioritization is achieved by choosing one project and going too far on it to stop.

Cool contest, congrats to the winners! I always check out the stickers on people's tool chests... it's not really "your" chest or box until you slap some stickers on it...

Just wanted to say, I got the Skyline in yesterday. I'll throw up a "before" picture when I get the chance, and then I'll head out to the horribly messy shop and put some stabilized wood scales on. Seems to me it's just begging for modification... Then it will likely be destined for a new home somewhere... Thanks again, granitestateofmind!

Congrads crimson...........Thanks again for the cool GAW granite!

You are most welcome - I've got one that will eventually get some jimping and a little tacti-coolness......

Still have some wood scales to get out, but those are gonna take a little while.
Thanks for everyone's participation.

I haven't seen the "Before and After" thread - but I finally finished my DIY car stereo install and cleaned up the garage a bit. Did get my dad's "leftover" chop saw - so that's taking up some space, and not going anywhere. I figure it'll help when I want to make some wood scales in the spring or summer or something.

This is about as clean as I can get it:

Had an oversize 3 car garage once. I really miss that place.

Wow. Thanks for the updated pics, tj. I've actually been doing a little cleaning myself. Maybe now that it's almost spring it's time for a spring cleaning thread.....
I would sell a body part for a workspace the size of a three car garage. Of course, I'd have to hire someone to keep it clean.... and find a way to be independently wealthy so I'd have time to get it messy.

Man, Mine is worse than ever right now. Had it pretty clean a few months ago. This weekends plan is to get it back looking good. I also need to instal an air-condition/heater so I can work year round, but I'm no electrician and it's a 220 unit someone gave me.

That's why we had to sell the place - great price on a good sized home; no income generation.
It was awesome - though it wasn't all workspace. The 2-car held 2 cars, the water heater, and a small workbench.
The third was an add-on by the previous owner. They called it the "Jeep" garage. For me, it was the "Mustang" garage - except I didn't have funds or time to do anything with it! But it was oversize - WITH the Mustang IN, I could open up all the cabinets on the passenger side, walk all the way around the car, past the man-door to the backyard, and access the full-length workbench on the driver's side. Plus I could store stuff in the rafters with the Kayak pulley system they left in place. And they left a 12x20 storage shed on a concrete pad in the middle of the yard for storing all the lawn and gardening tools. The garage wasn't temperature-controlled, but it was in Nor Cal, so it was fine 9-10 months and endurable year round (wear a coat, or open the doors, depending.)

Great. Now I really miss it. Wife wants to move. I've been holding off. Mind may be changing...

PS - I just noticed the Chinese New Year decorations are still in the garage! Need to get those up to the attic this weekend and free up another couple square feet. No St. Patty's decorations, and Easter's a little ways off, so that'll be nice.

Hey Mike, Got my garage almost done and was wondering if you were going to make a new thread? It's clean enough to actually show you guys this time. lol

All right. Looks like I will have to make another thread, but I want to make it another GAW thread, so if anyone else wants to participate, they'll have to figure out how to show the "before" as well as the "after", without pulling one of those infomercial tricks where the "before" is really the "after".
My space (at least in the basement) is cleaner, too. A little hard to tell, tho. I'll post up the pics in the new thread. Stay tuned!
