Could I just write to Auntie and custom order a Sarge Knife? Maybe a bit bigger than those, but that is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. That or a Bowie, but with like 5 inches of handle and 3-4 inches of blade, not like a traditional bowies 4 inch handle, 6-7 inches of blade.

Sure you can, it never hurts to ask.

I understand how you feel: knives like the Sarge and R-10 are *exactly* what I went shopping for, when I needed a carbon-steel fixed-blade, and couldn't find!

We need to get those two models up on the website; I never saw them until they showed up on the DotD threads.

what are the differences with a 18 inch 22 ounce Chitlangi and 18 inch 22 ounce Sirupati?

The Chitlangi also has dual fullers on its blade.

I hope Wolf_1989 pops in for his expert advice on the Chitlangi.

That Chitlangi is an unusually slim one and a bit lightweight for its size. Because the blade has a different profile than a sirupati - mostly due to the double fullers - it might cut a little better than a sirupati of the same size but it would be a really close call between the two. I'd think in this case the sirupati might have more impact but the chitlangi would have more bite. The biggest noticeable difference is in the ergonomics of the handles. Smaller Chitlangis like that tend to dig into your wrist a bit and you need to hold them higher on the handle; what works best is holding it so the habaki is pinched between your thumb and index finger.

$25 Sarge knives? Wow, that would have knocked retired shark off the wagon. Enjoy them!
