Last knife of 2015....?

Normally I don't ask for help in deciding which knife to choose. Actually, I never do! Lol. I see a design I like, or find intriguing, I read company and product reviews, trying to ignore the blind fanboy reviews and haters (every "quality" brand has 'em), and stick to the less biased takes, and in the end I buy what I want, not what someone else thinks i should buy, so this is actually a first.

Anyways, I am thinking (hard) about buying myself one more knife before 2015 is over, (which means I'll probably wind up doing it either way)... Neither is on top of my list, but both caught my eye rather recently, and both are in a price range I am comfortable with. Neither is a safe queen, whichever I land WILL be placed into rdc (rotational daily carries) and used.

First up, HTM Kirby Lambert Snap:

I'm a sucker for grenades, idk why, part of the military past. Only downfall I see is weight, but I'm not a small guy, and I don't mind overbuilt knives with a little "umph" to 'em sometimes. It's actually a 1/2 oz. Lighter then my Kizlyar Ute, and that hasn't been an issue.
I never owned an HTM but bladehq has these at a pretty good price right now, and I do hear great things about their products. (It would match the grenade air fresheners I keep in my truck). :)

Or

Benchmade *discontinued* HD Hardtail (large):

I like the classic "Buck110" look with the d2 blade and a modern twist, and while some folks hate the branding logo's, I actually like them because it is a HD edition; I even dig the cheesy little skull in the handle.
-Ever since a really good friend died in a bike wreck the year after our son was born, the wife, she pretty much nixed any and all notions of my future riding, (she knows I'm a go hard or go home type of guy), so at least I can still own a Harley (edition Benchmade).

Like I said, either one is going to be a user, not "every day", but regular rotation.

What say you knife people? Experiences, suggestions, (constrictive) critisms, shoot...

*fwiw, I'll likely end up with both at some point, but for now only one is in my immediate future...

Whoa, Love the HD hardtail

That's the buck110 iv been looking for!

What a beauty.

Go for it

Wow, no love! 130 views and only one post, ouch...
(Thought for sure somebody would at least said "get a pm2" ;) )

Anyways, my last knife of 2015 has just been ordered... Was seriously stuck between these two, but couldn't find the Hard Tail I wanted, all were either mini's, combo edges, or coated, and I wanted an uncoated plain edged full sized... (I'll keep my eye out)..

Then I was about to buy the SNAP, a tank of a knife on paper, when I remembered kershawguy had the 2nd gen ZT0550bk for just a little bit more at $150, which is a "proven" tank of a knife with a plethora of reviews, and a framelock, and s35v instead of 154cm, so grenade handle be damned, I started leaning toward the ZT (I can always make a custom grenade patterned handle for the ZT if it's that serious right?), but I started looking around and then the 0566cf caught my eye, in ELMAX, for just $20 more, a knife i thought about getting for a while, so I started debating between the 2... And then the m390 model of the 0566cf started calling to me, since i love elmax but always wanted to try m390, so I really began the stinking thinking process...

So what did I finally choose? Well...
With the Hard Tail gentlemanly looking blade out, I wanted a HD blade I could use, and with the HTM SNAP (liner lock), which caught my eye aesthetically losing ground to ZT's (frame lock), i was caught between s35v, elmax, and m390, between 3.25"-3.5" and $150-195... How to choose???

I was thinking hard, the Hard Tail still weighing on me (I haven't owned a benchmade since I lost a grip, my first "nice" knife), and the beefiness and size of the 0550 appealing, the design and price of the 0566cf leaning, with the intrigue of m390 still lingering, how could I rectify the situation...

Then I remembered this:

Knifeworks exclusive Benchmade Contego 810
Benchmade (like the Hard Tail)
AXIS lock, (better then a liner lock)
Beefy & longer blade (like the 0550)
Appealing contoured design (like the 0566cf)
In m390
at a cost between the two ZT 0566cf models...

I think I hit that one out of the park as best I could and covered all my basis!

I litrerally just ordered it and that officially closes the books on my 2015 knife purchases, and ushers in the end of my previous ≈$100 limit I had self imposed a while back...

Merry Christmas to all!

*since knifeworks' engraving service is free with benchmade products, I decided to utilize it as well, to personalize my new knife, (and first knife EVER North of $150), with the phrase;
Be the L.I.G.H.T.
(Loyalty, Integrity, Gumption, Honor, Truth)
The founding principles I try to live by today, and try in earnest to instill in my son.

Only fitting that it arrived today, the last day if the year...

And what else can I say but that I think at 1st impressions, I have a new favorite knife!!!

12/31 arrival is a true last knife of 2015; congrats on a good one

My last ordered was a Busse SH-e. Last arrival was a TRASH-1.
My standard NYE carry is this gold Tidioute:

Not sure about which modern folder will join it in pocket tonight. Big decisions! :D

Happy New Year!

Indeed, happy new year to all!!!

Mine will be spent in the comfort of home, wearing sweats and eating pull and peel shrimps... With this bad boy BM certainly accompanied by my blue sparkled Schrade lady leg, which will certainly be pooping the tops off of some Mad Elf's and Sam Adam's Winter Lagers I'm sure.

Last knife I made...

Last knife I bought...

Delivered today:

It is a ZT 303. The scale is from a ZT 301 I have had for years. The blade has a detent hole so this is de-assisted. 100x better!

there is a dealer on a certain auction site that is selling htm snap knives for pretty cheap, way below what they normally go for

I got these yesterday. I bought a few others but I won't have them for a few days so these will be the last acquisitions of 2015.

This crazy thing.
It's been glued to my pocket for the past few months and as unlikely as it may seem, it has been an incredible performer regardless of the task....

I have no pictures (if anyone's interested, Google can give you 10 gazillion in less than a second). My last knife of 2015 is the Benchmade 707 Sequel. I hesitated buying it due to my large hands, the small grip size and not being able to try it out locally. I was apprehensive when I ordered it based on comments about the small grip size not fitting large hands. But I ordered from a Benchmade dealer through Amazon Prime with full free returns if needed.

Bottom line: I shouldn't have worried about it. Even with hands in glove size 9-9.5 I'm able to get a comfortable and full four finger grip as long as I choke up on the handle as I always do anyway. I like the Sequel--great size, perfect fit, excellent materials. Not real sharp on arrival but it only took about one minute on a ceramic benchstone to make it hair popping--love 154CM.
