Thought I'd share with you one of my last knives of 2010.

It's a slimmed down dropped hunter, with a 3 3/4" 1095 blade, green canvas Micarta handle and red fibre liners on a tapered tang. Fittings are 303 stainless.

I also decided to make the sheath nearer to the original Loveless design...not sure why, I guess I just fancied a change!

As always, all comments, good and bad are welcome.:)

Thanks for looking.

That looks great, nice job. I like a bolster on a knife, just puts a nice finished polish on it.

What, not specific to your knife, is the concept of a tapered tang? Is it a balance thing or just cosmetic?

Thanks for taking time to look and comment, it's very much appreciated.

Kingsqueak, as you rightly said, the tapered tang is there to reduce weight..although I like them just as much purely from an asthetic point of view. I think it makes the knife look more interesting than a parallel tang.

Cheers,

Ian

just getting better and better man:thumbup:
looking forward to the continued progression in 2011

Cheers Lorien.

Getting better is my plan...glad to hear you think it's working!:D

Ian

Nice one Ian. Now you got that one finished and out of the way maybe you can get on and make mine;)

Cheers Rick.

I emailed you earlier about your order...and the email i recieved this morning.;)

Thanks for all your comments....a bit of praise really does make the hard work worthwhile.:D

Cheers and a happy new year to you all.:)

Ian

Nice work Ian!

Both your grinds (nice plunge lines) and the leatherwork are getting better with each knife. :)

Thanks Marcus.

Remarks like that from a maker such as yourself mean a lot.

Many thanks.:D

Ian

Really looking good Ian.
Handle swell looking very nice as is your tapered tang/liners.
Besides that taper tang reducing weight do it because it looks right and
even more that you can do it right. ;)

Mr. Bailey, that is a good looking knife!
But the comments that precede mine are a bit much, without a doubt superficial words just to get on your good side perhaps? I could be wrong, I was once before.
I suggest you make me a knife and I will give you a good honest review of it?

Kevin, thank you. As you know, I appreciate you taking time to comment...even more so when it's a good one!;):D

Mr (not Bob) Dozier, not sure why anyone would want to get on the right side of a nobody like me...I'm just a fat bloke who spends too much time in the workshop!:D

As for that testing....Keep your eyes peeled a bit later today....

I've got another thread to start which will show you some blade testing I done just last week...you'll be able to sit and see one of my blades tested without even getting out of your chair!!;):D

Thanks for taking time to look and comment.

Cheers,

Ian

Not could be, but you are wrong. I only say what I mean and believe to be true, whether it positive or negative.

Ian has come a long way. Now if he can only get his photography skills near par with his knifemaking skills. ;)

Thanks Kevin...I'm not really sure why anyone would want to 'get on my good side' to be honest.

I also know what you mean about the photography.:D

Didn't mean to offend anyone.
I realize all the posters prior to my original post were being honest and sincere. I probably need more or less beer at night?
It's also clear that you don't need any help testing a knife!
