Last mini-mag user?

The MiniMag AA flashlight makes a terrific "platform" for the new drop in LED modules. If/when the light is damaged, get another for $7.00 or so and transfer the LED to the new one. I highly, highly recommend the TerraLux Ministar 2. A one-watt LED drop in for the MiniMag AA light. www.terralux.biz I use mine every day at work and the light is extremely white and the battery life is phenomenal.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the EXCELLENT Opalec Newbeam Mini Mag conversion yet.

According to the flashlight pros at CandlePowerForums, this flashlight has the most rock solid regulation of any flashlight. If you don't know WTF that means, it means basically it will put out an extremely steady amount of light - it won't grow yellow and dim almost immediately like the old 2 D cell flashlights we had when I was a kid.

In fact, Opalec had to add a tiny red led to go on as a warning when your batteries are almost dead because you can't tell at all from the amount of light emitted from the flashlight.

I'll tell you this - my sister ain't no gadget nerd, but she snagged my first Opalec Newbeam the first time I showed it to her!

Since its a conversion of a Minimag, physically it is a minimag. Except it has 3 (4 if include the red LED) LEDS and is regulated.

Converting it takes like 3 minutes. Let me tell you, I have put AA batteries that were essentially dead in them, and because it has a step-up converter, the light still shines bright on these "dead batteries" for hours!

At about $21, it costs a lot more than the original Maglite, but compare that price to a regulated Surefire!

You can get them at Brightguy or BerkeleyPoint.

They say that Opalec won't fit in the "Old Style" minimag, but I personally found that to be untrue. It worked in mine :)

Well said Bruise...
I love my Opalecs. I find that the light output level is perfect for "task" use - seeing "what I'm doing here".

My brighter lights rarely get carried.

GO TO SURFIRE .COM AND TAKE A LOOK. YOU CAN ORDER DIRECTLY FROM THEM. AND THEIR LITHIUM BATTERIES FOR THEIR LIGHTS ARE INSANELY CHEAP. :D :p

In most cases, I'd rather have a Terralux Ministar in a Minimag than any of the Surefire lights. That way once I've sufficiently destroyed the flashlight, I go buy another one for under 10 bucks, pop the LED in there and I'm ready to go again. OTOH, I EDC a Surefire. .
