I decided to hit the property today to take advantage of the recent snow to do some tracking. I am super pumped to say that there were tracks EVERYWHERE!!! Hopefully they decide to show up on Monday as well hahaha. I brought along the BK9 to clear many branches that were grown onto the path and even used it to help me move a tree stand. It is a beast. I didn't take many pics because I was pretty active in trying to get everything done. It was about 20F and we have anywhere from 6-8" of snow on the ground on the mountain.

Enjoy:

Love the scenery:

Exhausted from an honest day's work:

Nice. Some shots of the tracks would've been cool. I'm a tracker. Just set the 9 next to them. We'll say it's for scale.

Hey Rick. Sorry brother. I'm back at home and won't be back up to the land till Monday (opening day on PA). I didn't take any track picks or scale shots. I really should have. If I wasn't on such a mission and took more time I probably would have thought too.

Haha, it's cool man. The Appalachians in PA are spectacular. I love it up there. It's been a long time since I've been there, though. Do you hunt like the Amish up there? Just chasing everything to a firing squad along the road??? Hahaha

CM-Rick,
Hahahaha, you are the first person to ever mention that! Those Amish are freaking wild with that. They do giant drives and then it's just boom boom boom boom boom boom. I avoid hunting around Amish country.

TheMadIndian,
Thank you, and yes sir you do.

you have a really nice property and the snow really bring out its beauty.

the 9 certainly give it a nice topping. I enjoy the 9 too thou we only have summer and rain all year round here in the tropic area.

Looks like a good time outdoors man. Thanks for sharing.

Mathias,
Thank you my friend. That sucks about your weather, hahaha. I love all the seasons. Fall is definitely my favorite. Snow is beautiful though.

Captain,
Thank you. Now wish me luck. Tomorrow's go day!

Warrior,
Absolutely a great time. I had my younger brother in law with me. He's been very eager to learn outdoors skills and I'm taking him hunting on Monday as well. Any day outside is a blessed one.

Now there is a blade that has been shown some luuuv......... I hope you get the buck of your dreams, my friend......

Everybody on here from PA must be too used to it to mention it. Shocked the hell out of me the first time I saw it. Anywho... let us know how it turns out, brother.

Same thing in NC.

First time stationed at Cherry Pt, I saw all these cars and trucks lining the back roads and the "firing squads" forming up. WTH?! I thought it was a posse.

Rule of Thumb was - stay out of the woods on Opening Day.

I still can't believe its actually legal to hunt that way.

Nathan,
Thank you sir. Those scales are super grippy, love it!

Mr. Becker,
Oh yes, it's been shown some love....and heavy use. NO BUCK dammit!

Rick,
Well, I didn't get a buck dammit. The hunting cabin next to us got one though (JERKS). I enjoyed my day though and made a little fire for us to enjoy since we were getting rained on and for the most part the deer were most likely bedding down. I'll post some pics up after I upload them.

Travis,
That's wild. When I lived in NC, I didn't hunt. Now I'm kind of glad I didn't lol.

Here's my initial set up, tree stand overlooking an approximately 75yard opening in the woods that is heavily traveled by deer.

The fire I made to raise some spirits, enjoy, get warm, and dry a little. I used my BK16 to make sure I got nice dry wood since there was snow on the ground and rain coming down. I used a small rock cave with an overhang with dense evergreens in front to hide the light signature and keep the smoke down. Although it's private land, I don't want anyone getting concerned.

Dave and Trev enjoying the fire. Trevor is new to hunting and outdoors in general. He enjoyed learning some basic fire making etc. so the day was not a wash.

Dave enjoying it too much

The beast

Kind of mad I tossed my soldering iron and wood burning kit, when I moved. I've been wanting to do wood handles with a 1911 or shotgun style grip pattern. I bet those grips feel good.

samclaymore,
Dang, you should have kept it. Oh well, I use one from Walmart and it cost me like $10. Go grab a cheapie! The grips feels AMAZING btw. I stipple all my knife and gun grips. Just no turning back after you've held stippled goodness.
