Parts of Australia regularly get snow (even some ski areas there)....haven't you seen "The Man From Snowy River"? (filmed down under, IIRC)

I have to admit I was pretty bummed not getting a buck. I'm going out again next week since my doe tag will be active then and I can take either one. I hunt for meat so I'm hoping to stick the freezer again this year.

You're damn right you will! I'm hoping you'll see more than scenery shots this next time. I'd love to post up some pics of field dressing a deer with my 16. My BK2 field dressed 3 deer last season (one of mine, one of my buddy's, and one of his cousin's). The 16 needs to be christened.

Awesome gift for your kid. Kabar has micarta for them, you can also get G10 from theknifeconnection if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure there are other options such as wood etc on ebay as well.
