It is not so much a matter of when your mail appears to have sent but rather how long it actually takes to hit the receivers email account. This has to do with whatever servers it has to cross to get there and how much traffic is in the way also.
 
That sounds about right...
I waited for 6 seconds; before sending mine. I didn't want to jump the gun, and get moved to the back of the line.

We're talking hundredths/thousandths of a second ... That's crazy..lol I don't know how to do it any faster..haha
