Good choice!
Make sure you send Auntie Yangdu an email with payment and shipping address.

I know Auntie's Internet is down but I wanted to claim the 15" inch Gelbu Special by Rajkumar.
I'll email, but also want to make sure it's claimed here.

As I understand it, Yangdu's policy is first come first served, based on the email rather than forum posting.

If the problem is with her own computer rather than her service provider, all her emails will probably be waiting on the server, and she'll get them when her computer is back up.

So email her ASAP and hope that no one else already did so.

I'm glad you're taking that Gelbu Special, it's been softly calling to me and I don't have the budget for it right now.

I am interested in that 16 inch 25 ounce Ajambari Knife for $95 but I cant find any information on it on the HI site. Is it similar to a WWII or BAS model? Does anyone have any details on the use of this knife and design? Full tang ect... ?

Thank you Karda i should have dug a little deeper. The review doesnt really touch on if this knife is better for chopping or more of a carry\military style knife. Does anyone have any experience with this blade? Im new to the world or Khukuris but i have done a little research and lurked on this forum for a while. Im looking for my first khukuri and i am torn between the BAS and WWII models. Im looking for a decent chopper with less than 2lbs of weight. More along the lines of a military carry Khuk that can still perform minor chopping like a small machete or hatchet.

While i havent actually chopped with a Ajambari yet, i've got a good grasp of these blades and their attributes.
I believe the Ajambari would perform similarly to the BAS and WWII models. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them.
The smallest khukuri i would recommend for chopping is 15", a 16.5 model will chop slightly better. 18" is about the tops for hiking and camp work and models above that length work well for large statured people.

The ajambari should work for you.

Email sent for the 16 inch ajamburi. Yall talked me into it.

Gee... You're easy!;):D
I think you'll love it. Theyre a little more pudgy and stout than a BAS or WWII, but that one you just bought really reminds me of a dressed up WWII blade with a fancy Mk2 handle plus a touch of H.I. flair. The fact that it's hard rock maple that been from the US to Nepal and back is just icing on the cake. The hard rock maple will likely be limited. At that price you got a heckuva steal!

To those that pass up these Ajambari, you don't know what you're missing.....

Well thanks for the help fellas but i was just informed that knife has long been sold. Ill just have to keep my eyes peeled and keep looking.

Sorry about that shorehunter. Auntie is so busy that sometimes she misses marking these things.
There will be others. Keep your eyes peeled.

Well after I emailed Auntie and she explained that the Ajambari was already sold she worked with me on a couple of other available knives. She ended up giving me a great deal on a 17" WWII with a satisal wood handle. Just wanted to thank you guys and this forum and Auntie. Cant wait to get my new knife.
