I find it sad that capitolism strikes even sites like this. The knife forum is still free and I,ll be moving over there. I will not support a site that makes money from its advertisers and then wants to charge $30.00 for membership. I did donate to the www.huntamerica fund but the circumstances there were different and it was only $10.00. I find $30.00 to be greedy. Its actions like this that hurt our hobby of knife collecting and trading,I have never sold a knife here but have bought them in the past but will go to e-bay and www.knifeforums.com from here on in. Actions like this is not what America is made of, I for one will not be nickel and dimed to death as I said $30.00 is outrageous and stinks of greed. I enjoyed this site but it is far from the only show in town, so it is with sorrow I am visiting for the last time as I feel if I do visit, this gives the site hits to try to intice advertisers to make even more profit. Its not like this site does'nt have income as it does from advertising and money generated from sales. I will also cease doing business with the SKS1 as well. I wish all well that continue to use this site but this is a personnal choice of ethics.

You may choose what you wish, there is no policy saying you have to pay to be a member here.

If you want to conduct business by selling knives, I do not think it is unfair for the owner of this site to charge a fee. Please tell me what is unethical and un-American about that.

A question: How ethical is it to bad-mouth a person's business and include his competitors in a knife discussion forum when the owner has created a service and support forum for issues like these to be discussed?

Seems to me the ethical thing to do is to try to understand what is going on here fully and why fees are charged. It costs nothing to buy or trade knives here.

If you think this site is supporting itself by it's fees, you need to think again.

Isnt america built partly on the capitolist idea- if you can make it better you can charge more?

You want to sell knives, you pay the fee.

Otherwise, posting is free.

I don't see the problem with this.

BTW, banner advertising is ending in April. Do a seach on membership's and you'll see we discussed this in the past.

Huh? What the heck are you talking about. The only time you have to spend money for a membership is if you want to sell knives. All the other forums here are free. If you want to support this site voluntarily you can, but it is not required. Has someone from BladeForums contacted you to tell you that you have to pay $30.00 to keep posting here? I don't think so.

I don't know what your problem is, but why bother coming here to tell us all you are leaving? Just so that you can promote the other sites you mentioned? If your ethics take you away from the best site on the internet to learn about knives, then so be it. Your loss. Bye, have a nice life.

I think it fair to charge for using this forum to make a profit yourself by selling knives. The info here is free, and that is more than fair. You posted twice, once to bitch about membership and say you will be leaving. I think even still you took more from this forum than you gave to it.

People continue to amaze me every single day.

I guess he didn't notice that he wasn't charged for the two posts he made. Isn't selling knives for personal profit part of the capitalist idea? Wouldn't he have to spend several hundred dollars to get the same exposure and advertising that he would get by paying a measly $30 a year to be a dealer on here? Oh well, adios, don't fall off the steps on your way out.

Lets see, you registered in December. You posted twice for the sole purpose of saying you were not going to post. You say that the membership fee is a rip-off. You should be able to understand that membership is optional. You dont have to pay if you dont want to, you just wont be able to sell knives. You sound like a true moron. Please dont go away mad, just go away.

He only had two posts and one is to announce here he is leaving because of misunderstood Membership Policies.

For those who are new and don't know any better.

Running this site costs considerably more money than Advertizing or Membership Fees generate. (ISP, Servers, Bulletin Board Software, etc)

Membership fees are ONLY required if you want to Post Pictures or Sell Knives.

Afvoo, I have seen the light. I want a refund of my membership fees! Better yet, I want a free knife for each and every one of my posts!!!!! See, afvoo, if you had gotten a few hunnert posts under yer belt before you went on your crusade, you coulda been our ethical hero AND come out of the deal with a whole mess o' knives! :p:D:rolleyes:

What a shame. One less TROLL to have to worry about. Not one that reads either, I guess, or he would have known that the fee is for those that wish to sell.
Like the old saying goes, (Keep your mouth shut and have people think you are stupid, open your mouth and remove all doubt)!

If he says it made him leave, afvoo just gave another good reason for the system here. It sifts out those rare people who not only don't get it, but they make public the fact.

Happy trails, afvoo. Sorry your attempted dramatic departure didn't start the next socialist revolution. :)

This guy registers 12/24 & has 2 posts. Yeah, his contributions will really be missed. :barf:

Afvoo, ask mommy to come to the computer and read the membership rules to you.
We sure will miss you:rolleyes:
And which one of the other 2 sites do you work for?

Well, if he was supposed to be advertising for those two sites I think he failed miserably. If he's representative of their membership, why would anyone want to join either one of them?

The opinions and comments of this Granite Stater is NOT a reflection of the sane knifeknutts of NH, WE know better.

I will continue to pay for a gold membership and continue to lurk, learn, post, be a pain in the BUTT, help and be helped, buy, sell and trade on what is one of the greatest places I have ever found on the Internet, BLADEFORUMS.COM

I have met some wonderful people here on BF, and Spark and the Moderators are a class act. Asking to pay $30.00 for the priviledge to sell is an absolute BARGAIN. Maybe AVwho??? should try to open a cutlery business here in NH and pay the business profits Tax. Now that is a screw-job, taxing a business to operate as a Business. BF is free, unless you want to sell, then it's a small price to pay.

With a whopping two posts, my fellow resident of NH will be sorely missed:rolleyes:  Everyone needs an AS....oh, never mind. :p :p :p wolf

I don't see afvoo as a troll at all, they almost never have a email address showing.

The way i see it he comes off like a long time lurker who used to love this sites "for sale forum" when it was free and one big fun place to be, it used to rock the house down then, now it doesn't.
