Last week of the year Contest

I started this ladle, but I don't know that I will be able to finish it. Unfortunately I chose a branch for the project from a Desert Ironwood that we were trimming, and it is HARD AS IRON! :) I will try to see if I can get it done some day...

This a terrible pic, I'll take a better one later. But I'm sitting on the couch, in the after affects of the worst migraine of my life, continuing a carving project I started ages ago. This is the nerve wracking part, the forks. I'll edit and share another pic. (I've really got to get a little fiddleback scandi)

Getting closer

Rather disproportioned but fun practice :)

Here's another project I did today. The house we're renting is 16 years old. It's the renters responsibility down here if something breaks . . . even if it's not your fault and it was mostly broken before you ever moved in. So, in an effort to leave everything to leave our house in working condition, I had to create a 'washer' so that a broken part on our toilet will work. The land lady bought 'fancy' toilets, and now 16 years later there aren't any replacement parts that fit. Somehow it's our fault

So, today has been a crazy busy New Year's Day! We've packed a ton. I cooked a special breakfast, fixed a toilet, fixed a broken handle on a sautée pan, and now I'm cooking a dinner. I used my Lief Lambertson 4" chef knife adorned with Tequila Sunrise Shadetree burlap with orange and black liners.

Last call. Say at 5:00 PM tomorrow, we'll make a call and spin the spinner. Submit your pictures. Surely you got something going on.

The neatest thing I remember about moving overseas was that the food tasted so good. Carrots were the reference. US carrots have no taste. Seeing those makes me long for food that is isn't grown on a global scale. Thanks for sharing-- I can almost taste the "local" produce and the Buffalo Mozzarella.

They'll take longer to finish than this week for sure. Cut and profiled em on NY day. Next time I get out to the shed I'll drill the handles.

Thanks for playing and thanks for giving me something to do while I was studying for the test. I passed BTW.

Thank you much and congrats on passing your test! This was a fun thread to go through. I wish I had more pics of that stage to share but I was dodging hot sparks off the angle grinder or using both hands on the belt grinder most of the time.

Wow! Thank you for an incredibly cool prize package Blaine. Seriously blew my mind when I opened it. Love it!

Glad you liked it. Those were just some prototypes and learning exercises. The $4.00 flipper from Walmart was something I had to try out! Thanks to all for sharing.
