As promised, here are some pic's of last weekends camping trip. Had a great time.

I went up early Friday and set up camp, the wife came up Saturday and stayed through Sunday. The place we went is in the mountains near the Chattooga River here in SC. Its a great spot as if you arent out for light camping you can pull your vehicle about right up to it (if you can make it up the trail leading to it) and there are only two spots in the particular spot so you dont get much company.

We were expecting some light showers so we tried to prepare for it, but also managed to fit in a full weekend of fun. Did some trail riding in the Jeep, some hiking by the river, and the usual camp fun stuff. Anyhow, enjoy the pics.

This is a really neat OLD family cemetery we found on the VERY top of the mountain. The stones that are marked date back to the late 1800's:

I don't see many blades like that long one posted in here often. Sometimes its nice to get away from the usual suspects. Cool.

I am trying to decide if I should buy my buddies jeep, fun to drive but tough on the go juice too.

cool pics. what model is that fixed saw?

looks like fun all around

Sig,

The fixed saw is a Knives of Alaska wood saw. It came with that really long knife you see posted with it as part of their "Bushmaster" combo. It is a really great chopper combo. Perfect for shelter making but the knife is easily the most manueverable big knife I have ever used.

Liam,

That is my 3rd Jeep. Once they get in your blood ya never get'em out! I wouldnt trade that one for the world. But yes, DAMN that hurt the wallet at the gas pumps right now.

My wife just bought a new Jeep liberty limited edition 4x4, so I have been sporting her old Toyota Corollla back and forth to work. Makes living with gas prices alot easier at the moment.

Nice pics and a great area to camp, too, Beroya. I used to camp at Woodall Shoals near there back in the 70s.

Nice pics...makes me want to load up the truck and get out of here!

Looks like a great time, my wife has just commented on the cemetary and said she wonders how far people carried the bodies to get them there, was there any signs of a settlement ?

Pit,

No there wasnt. I have ridden probably every trail in that area at some time or another and I have never found any old settlement signs. I had the Jeep about Vertical several times just getting to it so I know that travel would have been hell that long ago to get to it.
The only thing I can think of is that below the cemetery a bit is a small..Valleyish.. clearing spot right on a water source so maybe the family had settled there for a while, but again, no visible signs of there ever being a homestead or church or anything. Im thinking of checking the family name and see if there is any info in that area for them.
