Howdy folks-

This is something I made last Christmas, but neglected to take some pictures of beforehand! I was at my parents place this week, though, and was able to snap some pics! He has a ton of arrowheads, etc., and is very interested in anything from those periods. I thought that this was modestly reminiscent, in some ways.

The leather from the handle wrap and pouch came from a thin sheet of some very quality leather that he had given me a while back. I did a lemon juice/mustard patina on the blade.

The sheath is a 'first' for me, in that I've never done that type of leather strap to secure it, and I've never done a belt clip on a sheath.

I added a few basics to the pouch as well...

It'll pretty much just sit in a case for it's whole life, but it was worth it!

Covering that handle in the eather turned out great. The sheath looks nice too, I like the clip.

I assume its a carbon mora, howd you do the patina will?

Nice work, I might have to do one for my wifes grandpa......

very cool...

i will have to try that sometime, it looks great. i imagine it improves grip alot too.

Thanks guys! The leather turned out great, better than I thought it would. It just makes the handle many times more comfortable. The sheath design was actually necessitated by the leather covering, as a simple pouch sheath would have routinely/progressively 'shoved' the handle-wrapping off the handle. It had to be able to be easily inserted and retained after the fact.

Jake- That was a carbon #1. The patina is really easy to do actually. Just completely wipe off the blade. Then fill a glass with some lemon juice or lime juice, and let the blade sit (at the exact height up to but not beyond the handle) for about an hour or two. If you want that aged/speckled effect like I got, then just dab some mustard on the blade haphazardly, and leave it on while you soak it in the juice.

[PS- Jake! I forgot all about that satchel! If you'd like it let me know, I found a pic online so you can see it ahead of time to decide.]

Spooky,

Great stuff, I like the color of that leather. The set-up has a kind of rustic look to it:thumbup:

I like it too! Great idea on the handle--does it come off easily? Or intended to be permanent?

It does have a rustic look! The button closure is a nice change. Be sure to post pics in Sheaths & Such if you haven't already!
