can the latch come off of the bm42? it looks like a small allen key screw... maybe im wrong..

ohh yeah and 3 weeks and nothing from knifezilla..

Yeah it comes off. But I think the other side of the pin is presure fitted like the pivot pins. Don't give up the latch drop though. It's cool.

It's a Torx screw (size T6). However, the actual pin is press-fit - the screw just keeps it from being banged out. To remove the latch, you would need to first take the screw out, then tap the pin out.

yup, it can come off. Coincidently, I removed mine while tinkering with my 42 yesterday. All you need is the right sized hole punch to tap the pin out. Then you can rub some 400 grit sandpaper on the removed latch to remove all the scratches. If you do that then sell it, remember to call it "refurbished"

if I were to do that, I'd do it on my back-up 42. For me, the latch drop is the fastest way to get it open and out of the sheath. If I need it for utility purposes, it just takes a second to get it in the overhand position. And for defensive purposes, time counts, which is why I have it like that.

I'm considering getting a latchless BM43 eventually though, just for a change. I was considering getting a latchless tanto, but then you'd lloose some functionality of the drop-point

Make one yourself. I belive BalisongMan? had a thread on a custom joby job he made. Cool stuff man.

Sorry, it wasn't me, but mmtmatrix DID cut off the latch and the extra bit on the ends of the handles to make his a latchless that looks like the customs (no channel for the latch). Another gentleman also did it but I cannot remember his name. :(
