So this afternoon i decided i would go out in the backyard and practice some fire starting. My wife had gone to the store and me and my three boys were at the house. So i went out with my light my fire starter and some dryer lint and my kabar hunter. So after i had a nice little fire going with my boys assisting me we were sitting there watching the fire and adding wood. Then the wife got home and she went inside and brought out some hotdogs .So we roasted some over the fire for dinner. So what started out to be some fire starting practice turned to a great time with the family around the fire.By the way my boys are 8,6,4. Its the little things in life that are great.:D

Great story and what a great day to round out the day. I too have a little boy, 6 months, that I plan on teaching the simple pleasures in life to.

Your boys are lucky to have parents like they do.

great story i love teaching the kids skills when there willing to learn my boy is 7 and his two nephew's are 10 and 7 . i have them all so that with a scout steel and some fatwood they can start a fire. it turns the head of most . when i say my boys can start a fire with a peice of wood and firesteel faster than you with a lighter.

It really was a great time.Cant wait to do it again.

Great way to spend time with the boys. And to top things off next time, surprise them with S'Mores after they have finished the hot dogs. They will want to do it regularly after that.
