An old friend stopped by today and handed me this old Buck folder. It's 4 3/4 inches long, so I think that would be a 112 size? He said it was gifted to him years ago and since I just started collecting knives, I should have it. I'm pretty sure it's an old one but either way, old or new, it is a nice addition.

over $600.00.did you get the sheath and box?

It would be a great addition to any BUCK collector! EEE is correct. It is a first version, type 3, and a very nice looking one at that.

Thanks Guys, the blade is mint, the brass has some discolored spots. No sheath or box. Should I chance using some Flitz on the brass?

You will get advice both ways on an old knife.
If the spots are not damagining the brass do nothing
unless "you" want it shinny ,then use the Flitz.
Good friend you have there.

What EEE said about the Flitz.
(Herbert prob thinks the asian in me is calling for his friend...that'll stump all ya all).

Anyway, that is a great story DaveinNY. While the instrinsic value of the knife is quite impressive as you have read here, you must be a good friend to have such a good friend. Priceless.

A couple of my most treasured knives are 112s that were given to me unexpectedly. Again, priceless.

OK, I'm getting all poodle eyed.
Time to scoot to the real bar...

Isn't this knife actually a 1965 second version?(that's what is says in the blade's guide)

now if you're going by the Levine's guide 5th edition it's a 1963 first version type 3.

I'm going with the blades's guide it's a 1965 second version

Great Buck 110, nice story and a Great friend, this one is a keeper
