My good friend and hunting partner Ken Lunde was kind enough to send one my way as a gift for the Labor Day weekend.

Model Number: C81GP2
Country Of Origin: USA
Closed: 4 13/16 in. 122 mm
Overall: 8 9/32 in. 210 mm
Handle: G-10
Blade: 3 7/16 in. 87 mm
Edge: 3 5/64 in. 78 mm
Blade Steel: CPM-S30V
Lanyard Hole: Yes
Knife Lock: Compression Lock
Handedness: Right Hand Carry
Tip Carry Position: Tip Down Carry
Weight: 3.75 oz. 106 g
Edge Type: PlainEdge

1) I switch to tip up carry. My preference.

2) The G10 scales feel perfect as far grip and ergos. Simple but excellent.

3) The S30V blade is scalpel sharp. One of the sharpest out of the box knives I have ever used.

4) The tip has an awesome point to it. You can definitely used it for some "toothpicking".

5) The new oversize lanyard hole is great. I added a lanyard to it with ease.

6) I was out taking photographs this AM. I needed to remove some foliage/twigs to get the needed shot. The Para 2 sliced thru whatever it touched.

7) It is one of the smoothest opening knives that I now own. The ease of deployment is excellent.

8) The compression lock on the top of the knife is brilliant. I can open and close...with the blade falling away from my fingers...with one hand.

Your friend got you a very nice gift! The Para 2 is a great EDC. Enjoy! Kevin

The P2 rocks, plain and simple. Even more than the sum of its parts IMHO.

That was pretty nice of Ken I guess, but he could have sent you one of his Cooper's.

You know I'm kiddin. The Para 2 is a great knife, and one of my favorites. That was very kind of Ken to send you one, and I know you'll enjoy it.

Awesome blade I have the digicamo - I was cutting lamb off the grill today and got a lot of strange looks from fam members but they loved the Para2 and the ease it went through the meat. They all know I'm crazy from the Corps days so it didn't shake them up too much. Love Spyderco

The Para 2 is the knife in which I judge all other knives by. I absolutely love it. As a matter of fact, the only knife that has successfully overthrown the para 2 as the king of my pocket is my recently purchased large sebenza 21 insingo with micarta inlays. Even then it took a week to do it. Now I carry it about 20-30% of the time. When I got the Sebenza, I said to myself that if I still wanted to carry the Para 2 instead of it, I would be disappointed with my purchase and go back to the para 2 and sell the sebenza. To say that a $485.00 knife is the only knife I have that I like to carry over my $100.00 para 2 is the largest compliment I can possibly give to spyderco. They definitely hit a grand slam with the para 2.

Better late then never. The Para 2 is such a great knife and a crazy addiction. First it is the standard Para 2 then it's Sprint Para 2s then its all over for your wallet.

Got mine today, a digi camo.
It is a very good design, easy to open, works great in my hands, I used it to prepare stuff for todays supper, a superior slicer, good ergonomics. Light for its size, I think Spyderco has a modern classic in this design.
Also got my squeak, which feels as a very capable little knife. Perfect for the office.

Picked up a digi cam version and I really like this knife. Never really been a fan of spydies, but I'm a fan now. This has replaced my griptilian and my Seb in my edc rotation.

I noticed that the sigs on your PM2 blade are both to the right of the hole. Most of them have Eric's on the left. Anyone know why this one is different?

I don't know why but Spyderco shifted the location of the two signatures sometime after the first run and before the smurf M390 run. Both sigs to the right is the older placement.

I need to give this one another chance. I hated the comp lock, but the more I read, the more I realize I just had one with a really sticky lock...

I have a real time kicking it out of my pocket, sometimes I wonder if I should sell my other knives since I never carry them anymore.

I have tried several times to hate the para 2. I keep selling my camo P2 and like gravity it pulls me back and I keep replacing it.

The PM2, the Manix 2 and the Gayle Bradley have a three-way tie for my favorite folding knife. The PM2 gets more carry time than the others and more and more I'm feeling like it will eek past the other two to become my clear favorite. Just got the Gayle Bradley, so I need to see how I like the CPM M4 before I'll know for sure.

Everyone that I've ever shown the PM2 has absolutely loved it. Between the ergos, the steel and the locking mechanism, it's a clear home run for Spyderco.
