Here's my 4th bussekin, the Swamp Rat Ratchet. After I held the Busse Paul's Hatchet, I knew I needed to get my hands on the res-c variant (thanks again CP!).

I actually liked the old school tan coating, but I already had bigger plans for this one.

Paint stripper, this klean-strip can works real well, it comes out as a thick gel so it wasn't to messy.

I was hoping I'd get lucky with the machine marks, but that's usually not the case with me.

Here she is now. Still need to clean up the spine and choil. I might take the grind higher in the future to achieve a full convex grind, but without a plunge line to work from, it's going to be a little tricky.

SR-101 rusts fast! I was cleaning it in the sink and before I reached the towel, brown spots already started appearing.

I love how sharp SR-101 gets.

Next is to make a compact little kydex sleeve that covers only the edge to keep the package small and light. Then it's time to test it out, I have some wood I need to clear in the backyard, more pictures later.

CongRats! I love the Ratchet! I stripped my black one and double cut bead blasted it and haven't looked back since. Double cut doesn't seem to rust as fast, mine beads water, but if I leave it long enough.....

That looks sweet. That edge looks razor sharp.

Would you mind giving a mini review of this blade? I have been interested in it for quite some time but can't figure it out.

For sure, I planned to but just literally got it yesterday morning so I'll do a mini review once I play with it some more. I can tell you right now that the factory edge geometry isn't great for chopping. With my reprofiled edge, I blasted through half a 2x4 pretty easily, definitely more chopping power then I had expected.

Damn, Nice Job man! New fun toy for the next chopfest eh? :)

Thanks! Oh yeah, it's small but shouldn't be underestimated. I was at Ban's just a little while ago testing it on some 2x4. :)

That thing looks awesome. And you're right... in my experience with cleaning off satin SR101 or S77, it starts to rust VERY quickly unless you dry it off and sometimes even oil it.

nice work

I picked up a 'Paul's Hatchet' at a Blade show and it bit me while I was walking back from having it wrapped. When it comes out now I know chips are going to fly! I've never had to sharpen the INFI but it has only tasted green wood.

that's awesome! i really like the edge profile. let us know how she does with green wood.

"I love how sharp SR-101 gets..."

Geese, it looks like you make air bleed with that edge.
