Latest Bowie Fossil Walrus & Damascus

I tell ya', it gets boring seeing one awesome Hanson knife after another...and another.:p

You really can ID Don's work from across the room, because he has perfected his own style.....but it is much cooler to see it up close!

For me, I love the way the pattern changes as it approaches the edge, the subtle recurve of the blade complementing the equally subtle drop of the handle, and of course everything else :D

It's going to be a Merry Xmas for sure for the knife's new owner :triumphant:

Great job Don

Thats a lot of pretty, someones going to be mighty happy Christmas morning.

Happy Holidays,

19" of AWESOMENESS wow! Easy to tell who made that bad boy...stunning Don, and as always killer piece of ivory.

Exceptional knife Don. I had to look but finally found your maker's mark. Not that it was needed to identify the knife as one of yours.

A quick question if I may. I am curious to know how deep does the coloring run with walrus ivory like that. Will any shaping of a piece remove it? Thanks.

Patrice, any shaping of ivory changes, removes color and sometimes exposes new color. The color showing on this one is fairly deep and is close to what it looked like when I started. Color in fossil ivory is good stuff, but not at the expense of handle shape.

I appreciate all the comments, guys!!!

I think my exact words as I extracted this out of the Bills case was: "What the HE**??!"

I have a smaller variety of lonnnnnnnnnnnnng blade backgrounds. I had to go right to them.

There is SUCH definition in Don's steel. It's like reading a good story. :)

Thanks for the explanation Don. Hopefully someday I get to try working with walrus ivory. Although I am already stressed just thinking about it. :o

Beautiful lines and colors, and the closer you look the better it gets. I love the small details, like the design on the ferrule between grip and guard.

Pure Don.

Yes Jim I love that shade of green for the back ground... very tasty indeed!

Nice one Don,
The anticipation when opening your posts reminds me of Xmas morning as a kid:cool: and so makes me want to get back out to the shed:thumbup:
Cheers Bruce
