Latest Emerson (CQC-15): Drool, Shake & Admire!

I have all the respect in the world for E. Emerson and his knives but that one is just not my cup of tea.

I'll never understand these companies that make these awesome, overbuilt, super heavy duty looking tactical folders, and then put a f***ing liner lock, the wuss of all locks, in them. I see it way too much.

I think Ernie's been working in the "tanto vein" a little too much lately, but I still REALLY like the 15. Can't wait until the prodo comes out. Sure hope that's not a lottery knife.

J85909266 for one more time I totally agree with you!!I hate liner lock and it damages the whole image of a good knife for me

Well I pretty much edc an Emerson, a 7b to be exact. Just picked up a Matt C. frame lock commander too. Hope to pick up a 12 in the next few days also. All this being said, I just don't like that 15 if that is the final blade design. How the heck do you sharpen it? I can sharpen the snot out of my 7 and have it so sharp it is scary. Just don't get designs with alot of angles to the edge. For that matter I dont' get neck knives either. But don't get me started on that either. keepem sharp

Did any pants makers cooperate on the design? Looks like a good pocket eater.

Nothing wrong with a good liner lock. Just as good as any other good lock.

There is nothing wussy or unacceptable about the liner locks on Emersons.

I have a CQC-7 and it is a nice knife. Only reason I don't own any other Emerson's is I am not a big fan of the Chisel Grind, or what they call V Grind.

Damn cool find, untamed. I love the handle, but the blade would be even nicer if it was a more conventional recurve (Commander-esque).
I don't mind liner locks as long as they're properly constructed.

That is probably the best looking Emerson I've ever seen. I'd like to see how the production model will vary from the proto.

Maybe for your fingers. As good as an Axis? Please. Just because you like Emerson knives doesn't make the lock a world beater.

I'm with you guys also. Ernie's designs are fantastic; wish he'd put an acceptable lock on 'em

Don't worry, Joe. Some of his designs are "frame-locks" (you like those, don't you?). The "waved" Enduras and Delicas are coming, too!;)

Best wishes,

The "liner-lock" on that "prototype" is one of Ernie's new, thicker ones (.090 Ti, I'm pretty sure). Besides, he makes production "frame-locks", too.

Best wishes,

I don't really hate liner locks. I love the liner lock on my Military. They just seem so out of place on the heavy duty, tactical, combat folders.

From the previous posts, seems I'm not the only one here who's uncomfortable with liner locks. Blame it on my "lowly" Endura.

A: My fingers are just as important as yours. I trust *GOOD* locks, and good locks can be liner locks.

B: Yes, a good liner lock can be as strong as an Axis lock.

C: Who says I am a fan of Emerson? I am giving an unbiased opinion and not being swayed by brand name or bad experiences with bad examples of liner locks. I am a much bigger BM fan than an Emerson fan. Don't assume.

D: I never said the liner lock was a world beater.

I respect you and your posts, but go "please" yourself.

It seems like a lot of people think that putting a scale on the side of a framelock (which they do consider to be a good lock) somehow automatically makes the lock unacceptable.
