Kyle as been knockin em out lately. This is an unusual one with 4.25" W2 blade, damascus bolsters, tapered tang & 5460 year old Bog Oak scales, 8.5" oal.
Thanks for looking and please let us know what ya think.
Beautiful knife! I'm surprised Kyle hasn't created an account here and started posting on his own. Don, you must be honored and incredibly happy to have a Son who shares the same passion as you, congratulations!
That really turned out nice! Great job, Kyle. Having seen the old pattern, I like the changes you made. We know about how old the bog oak is, and that is some old stock W2 that is some awesome stuff. Whatever gets in this knife's way had best be careful.
Kyle does need to get on here and start posting, but I don't know when that will happen? He also needs to get to work on a website and some other stuff...
I like unusual knives best of all when I find the design works for my eye. Almost everything about this one works for my eye, save perhaps the ricasso length and the bump/dip in the spine profile at/behind the bolster.
But that's just me. Kudos for going with a wild profile, and the execution looks good and clean too!
I like the shape, would prefer about an inch longer on the blade.
While the tapered tang is sweet, I almost never buy carbon steel knives with an exposed tang....because they rust if you are not attentive to them, so browning or bluing might be a good idea.
Is the blade offset or laterally displaced with respect to the handle? It sure looks that way from the bottom picture but (to me) that is not apparent from the top picture. If so, what is the purpose of that? TIA!
