My last 3 blades have all had handles made from bone. I think I like bone! Here's the dope:
3/16" 1095
8.25" OL
Brass Guard
1/4" brass pins and tube
Hollow Ground finished with Scotchbrite belt (red)
Flats left shiny.
Black handle liners
Handle finished to 600 grit, then buffed to add some black color in the pores.
HT as follows:
1500 degrees for 5 minutes in a gas kiln
Oil quench
Tempered 2 hours X2 @500 degrees
Rifle Deer Season is just 3 weeks away!
