They all work the same way. Fill up your canteen, squeeze it out through the filter but keep the dirty bits away from the clean bits. Its not that complicated. If you are in a camp its worth having a gravity system. Boiling is a pain and tastes like soot and poo

Just for the record. The full dose in one day (10 X 500 MG of Cipo came from the head of Surgery who I met in Dubai who sez fuck that shit about 2 a day for five days. Kill those bugs. Get back to work ;)) Your guts will be PVC for a few weeks but they will be working.

You have a week before Giardia really eats your guts. A dose of the shits is a good way to keep your gut cleaned out anyways. Good for 10 to 20 lbs weight loss.

Firms stools are overrated anyways. Never talk chalk or Imodium just keeps the bugs in.

That's some damn good info!!! I would of never thought you could take a full Cipro dose in a day. I need to call my Doc and pick some up so I can stick some my pack. Thanks for the info!
 
I didn't either. I thought you had to do two a day (500mgs) for five days. Cipro usually kicks in on day two for me but I only take it when I feel like a dog dragging its butt on the carpet. It nukes everything in your gut and takes a while to rebuild the gut bacteria.

I guess the air force likes the idea of "shock and awe" when treating its pilots for the runs.

burddog I would go with the steripen journey. its clean water instantly the miox pen takes i think 3 hours to kill Giardia. the msr sweet water system kills bacteria and viruses and pumps 1.5 liters a minute.
