Anybody interested in khukuris and Bando should pick up a copy of the latest Inside King Fu magazine. There's an article in it by one of my old customers, pals, nephews about the Bando Cobra System.

The writer whose name I can't mention is a Phd, Bando expert, and one of the good guys in this world. So, if you have an interest in any of this stuff take a read.

No "Inside Kung Fu" seems to have reached Hawthorne yet, Uncle Bill, but across the very top of the cover of the Feb. 2000 "Black Belt" is the teaser "BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO KNIFE COMBAT".
It's an article by Paul Vunak, who includes some knife fighting FAQ's quoted below that Howard may wish to borrow to include in his Khukuri FAQ's.

KNIFE-FIGHTING FAQ

1) Q/What is the best way to hold a knife?
A/In your hand.

2) Q/What is the best type of knife to carry?
A/A sharp one.

3) Q/What size knife should I carry?
A/It's not the size that counts; it's how you use it.

I looked in the issue on the stands here which is Feb. 2000. I could not find anything on bando, Might be the wrong issue. If someone finds it please let us know were and which one it is. Thanks
 
This is the issue with Leung Ting of Wing Tsun fame on the cover - it's the issue after the one with Diana Inosanto on the cover. Just picked it up and noticed that in the Wing Tsun story there's a photo feature showing Leung Ting defending against a khukuri wielding opponent. The khukuri looks like an AC one - too bad!

It's the March issue. Bando Cobra system. It is okay to say the article is by Dr. Duvon Winborne, an HI customer of maybe 8 years and a real pal and gentleman. I believe Duvon is hosting the Bando Nationals this year.

Maybe I will pick it up.---- I just got the Master's magazine because it has Hiro Koda on the cover. He used to be on our team. Very very polite person.--- "Not a kid anymore." Time is flying.

I wouldn't underestimate ya uncle! You still have plenty of git go. You don't have to be in tip top shape to be tough and be able to go the distance. Mental fortitude is key.
