It has been a while since i made a knife due to such a busy summer at work. Well here it is I really took my time and am pleased to say I am much happier with the end result as apposed to the previous attempts.

This knife was an 80th birthday present to a family friend, a really neat guy. He gave me a penny for the knife so apparently he knows the knife giving tradition. I keep a photo album (just started it) with knives I give as gifts along with the coin given in return.

Please give any and all thoughts on this because my goal is to improve. Thanks for looking.

Nicholson file
2.25" blade
3.75" handle
6" overall
Cocobola handle with red liner and mosaic pins
hollow ground

Looking good, looks like a good comfortable handle. The only thing I don't realy like about it is I prefere a higher grind line, if you can eigther flat grind or use a larger dia. wheel to hollow grind nearly to the spine you'll get better performance.

Other than that all I can say is that you did a heck of a lot better job than I did on my 8th!

you are 100% right about the grinds, I really need to learn to flat grind. I started out flat grinding but then I got the 8" wheel and never tried it again. I suppose I got spoiled because the hollow grind seemed easier. Well I think that is what i needed to hear to get me to try the flat grind again.

Thanks all for the words of encouragement.
