Hey guys :)

As more proof that I actually try to make sharp/pointy things.... here's the latest knife out of my shop.

Blade- Laddered Ws (sharpened clip)
Guard- Twisted Ws with 5/32" flute and scallops
Spacers- Copper and 416 stainless
Handle- Australian Ringed Gidgee (completely hand finished) with domed 416 pin
Sheath- Fully tooled front, twist damascus stud, differential dye, hand saddle stitched (finished with Tan-Kote and Wyosheen/Neat-Lac... Thanks for the finishing advice Paul! :) )

All work done by me. :)

Your ricasso have become shorter. Where are you going to stamp your MS? :D

That looks great. I really like the pattern in the blade.

Superb attention to detail. Excellent work Nick. Really impressed with the sheath also, the damascus stud is a very nice touch. Also one of the few sheaths I have scene on here that is properly stamped without a bunch of doubles and what not (not to detract from the knife ofcourse).

Haha...eric. No. Nick did all of that himself. It's a joke he made on a previous knife, discussing how people always ask him "you put that together from a kit?" Most lay people do not understand the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into a blade like that and can't comprehend how someone could make that by themselves.

Nick, outstanding job as always. As soon as I saw this post I jumped to the for sale section to see if it was for sale there. Maybe lightening can strike twice? But alas...:( ;) :D. That's some beautiful wood on that handle, and the sheath is just superb. And that says nothing toward the blade which is Wheeler-standard awesome. Keep it up, brother!

I'm kind of torn looking at this knife. On one hand, Its a thing of beauty, and on the other hand, its craftsmanship like this that make me say to myself "self, you've got a very long way to go". Great work. I could only hope to make something so nice one day.

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

Sorry about the kit knife thing, I didn't mean to come off as misleading... just being a smart aleck. :foot:

Sam- I usually hand sand wood handles up to 1200-2000 (depending on wood) and then buff very quickly on the Baldor. Gidgee will take on a nice polish if you do that, but it hides the figure. So I hand sanded up through the grits and started using Tru-Oil while sanding after 1200X. I sanded through 2500X grit, then moved on to 3M polishing cloth.

Final finish was done by lightly buffing by hand, with a clean cloth and some white compound.

Russ Andrews shared this method with me. It takes quite a bit longer, but it definitely does the wood more justice than buffing under power.

Nathan C- at the rate I'm going I won't have to worry about that... :o

Nathan B- Thanks my friend... it's very much appreciated!

Thanks guys! :)
