That's really nice Ed - what's the handle? Clip matches it very well. Utterly beautiful damascus!

Nice folder Ed. Again, the damascus is killer.
Why do you call it "Progression M" folder? Just wondering.

Shawn.... I refuse to make a folder that is a "tip up" carry, beside the liability involved, I carry a huge scar on my right thigh because I did just that....made my early folders as tip up carry. I had been on horseback working cattle and we had a little bit of a wreck......I went to snatch my knife out and all the jarring around must have caused it to work its way open just enough that when I went to jerk it out of my pocket, the blade tip caught inside the pocket, went through my jeans, and gashed the heck outta may leg. An hour ride to the hospital and several stitches later I swore off tip up carry. Besides, I remember Kit Carson telling me that if he ever caught me making another one of those that he was gona come to Montana and kick the crap outta me.:)

Bruce: The name "Progression" came from a friend who was in the shop when I was working out the design....I had wrecked a handful of them, and finally got one to work almost like I wanted it to....I was whining to my friend about how many I had ruined prior, and he simply said "Well, at least your making progress. Thats where the name came from. Since its the smallest version of the three sizes I make off that same folder pattern, I designated it as the "M" for "Mini".

Kaye says hello.

Thats a good thing to know about the tip up or tip down. Personally I dont like pocket clips very much. I have bloodied my hand with each type.

I think your progression has gone way farther than this model. This one is nice but some of your gents folders are outstanding. Price may play an important part though. How much are these? I would think they are a bargain as the handle material doesnt cost $100 or more.

Well now, thats a good reason to change your ways. You're lucky it didnt cut somthing else! Being a lefty, most knives out there are all built with the clip on the wrong side:D , so I've just adapted to carrying a "righty" Tip-up in my left pocket.

I never thought about the liability of building a point up carry until Kit brought it to my attention. He never said specifically who it was, but he told me a story of a maker who lost EVERYTHING because a customer did the same thing that I did, and the maker got sued....and lost. That sorta put a scare into me.

Bruce: Your right, I have gotten a lot of mileage out of the Progression design. The pics on this thread represent it in the basic form, with the addition of the Mosaic blade. The base model as pictured, with a standard high carbon (1084) blade goes for $425, and then as the "extras" are added that price increases. To be honest, I only have about 4-5 different folder patterns, but when I design a folder, I try to make is something that can be "dressed" in as many different ways as possible. My next move is to offer the Progression line with CPM154 blades...but thats still in the works. I've got to ensure the feasibility of material costs versus retail price of the knife. More on that later.
