Latest Scary Tac

Don, it's amazing to see you go from the most traditional slip joint to scary tactical inside of a week. For those who say a maker has to make one or the other to market himself, you prove it false. Two diametrically opposed knife styles with your own artistic style obvious in both. Impressive!

Well said and so accurate.

My Hanson collection spans the range of small, intricate folders to big, honkin' bowies. Crazy hamon, intricate damascus, sublime handle materials, and design that runs the spectrum of traditional to organic to dress tactical. Yet each can be identified as a Don Hanson creation from across a show floor. This breath & depth of talent is why his work is so compelling to me, you never know what will come next (you can blush now, Don :D).

This knife is a great example of a collection of materials and design that complement each other so well. Congrats to the new owner and well done, Don

What's "scary" is how Don continues to come up with fantastic knives and great combinations of materials

just when you think "he can't top this".......he does :D

Superb job Don

I've always kept a mental list of a few, special knives (less than 10) I've really wanted to acquire, beyond those makers that comprise the bulk of my collection. Don's Scary Tac has been on that list ever since I saw my first one. Now, as luck would have it, someone else's loss is my gain.

So I'll gladly accept that "congratulations" and scratch that Scary Tac (along with the "Clack") off the list. In this case, fortune favored the lucky.

Thanks Bob! You should have it today. Congratulations! :D

BTW, I got several emails after you called...

Hello Don!

Wow, another great one! Still kind of sad that even the most fossil of all ivorys are a definite no-no here (well, then I take out that stag goodness you sent my way and the sadness goes away... ;) ).

Mr. Betzner, congratulations on a fabulous piece! I hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it!

Best regards,
Alex
