As some of you know i cant make knives for a while as i have two busted up hands. But its driving me crazy to not make knives so i thought that i will use this time to read and brush up on theary and technecks. Does any one have any sajestions on reading material.

Maybe the Pattern Welded Blade? I haven't read it, but it's on my to-own books list.

Also, any of the Center Cross Instructional Videos are good to watch.

Also, check out THIS link for some good looking stuff.

Heal up fast, bro!

Hey Jared,

Bummer about the accident and getting so busted up.

One of the things I love about knife making is how incredibly diversified you can be as a craftsman and how much there is to learn and do! :) I'd probably be reading about machining, because it's a field I know nothing about. You've got that one covered though. I'm reading a book right now, that I'm thoroughly enjoying, entitled Woodworker's Guide to Wood. There are a gazzillion other related subjects out there too: leather working, photography, graphic design, engraving, carving, foundry and lost wax casting, iron oar, meteorites and metallurgy, business development, accounting, etc, etc...

All the best with a speedy and full healing, Phil

I have been thinking about getting a solid metaleargy understanding and damascus steel pattern knolge.

It's not knife related at all, but I'd recommend Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged". I'm working my way through it now (as an audiobook during my daily commute) and it's a fantastic, if very long, book. Seeing as your hands are busted up the audiobook might suit you well too. :)

Next on my personal list after this one is "Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance". I started to read it once years ago and much of it was lost on me. Now it's time for me to go back and read it properly.

It can't all be knives and technical tomes you know... :)
