I know there are a good number of Texas people on these forums, so I thought it might be worth a shot to post a topic.

I'm looking for some new places to do some hiking and camping. I have never been to the LBJ grasslands and I'm wanting to find someone who has been there. Just by looking around on Google's satellite images it looks like there would be some good places off the beaten trail to set up a tent.

Anyone here have any experience in this area and would be willing to share your opinions on the grassland?

The Black Creek Lake area has car camping and if you can get on the other side of or up the creek in a small boat/canoe there are some nice private areas. Across the lake from the picnic/car camping area is a large stand of pines that are unusual for the area and a good place to camp. Used to be good fishing there and up the creek. Please bear in mind its been 25 yrs since Ive been there. Google Earth would probably be a good idea.Have fun and look out for water mocassins.--KV
