Is there a way to find out when a Limited Edition was produced? I just aquired this 111 in ironwood but since there is no date stamp, I don't know when it was made. I checked the catalogs on the BCCI website and couldn't find it.

Plumber, the Model 111 ironwood is listed as "new" in the 2005 Buck catalog.

Now that I think about it, the date will probably be on the box when I get it. I do have a few others that didn't come with a box, so I'd still like to know if there's a way to date those with only the anvil and "custom" on the tang.

With those "anvil" stamps, the only way that I would know would be to either check the Buck catalog or to check the March issue of each year's BCCI Newsletter where Joe Houser usually lists the special projects that were done for the year before. That seems to be really a problem with the Model 532's since those are officially out of probuction but LE's are still coming out with the anvil stamp.

i jest noted that it has a sn
and if the mod or other numbers are on the box
you could call Liz of the custom shop and ask her...
it would be on the computer..

I just got the knife today and the box is dated 2005, so that goes right along with the catalog.

It's a gorgeous knife by the way, there's just something special about the ironwood and it's nicer in the "flesh" than in the picture. I like the 111's alot anyway and this one is especially nice.

The newer knives have the date of manufacture on the label at the end of the box. The earlier knives have a date stamp or you have to know when the project was shipped.
