I did some late night sharpening again. Really tired and probably should not have messed with my favorite ASH on the beltsander. Below is a pic of my results. I got just what I was shooting for. Even from side to side, the belt never touched anywhere but the edge, thinner edge by the choil evening out to the belly and thickening gradually between the belly and the tip.

So, though I got the end result I was shooting for I am not really satisfied. Looking for honest opinions (not just nice ones:)) about how I sharpened this one and what I might do differently. I really only spent about 5 minutes on it. It is good and sharp and I think it looks decent:thumbup:

Looks perrrti! :thumbup:Nice and uniform. But does she slice paper with no resistance whatsoever? Is she a hair popper?

Thanks guys. No prob on the pics after work though. I took the crappiest pic but it shows a drastic contrast to the edge I formed just to get the thread started :)

She cuts great. Zero resistance and just a little sharper than the CG.

Thanks for anymore input :)

Thanks Rolf. I never planned to use this LE but I was after a Randall for a light woods knife as an alternative to the CG ASH (I was getting tired of lugging it around on walks). This way I will be using my LE and not spending anymore money!

The LE is such a well balanced knife. With the new edge paired with the light weight and Mashet Cat kydex it should be the perfect companion in the woods.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Thats not a convex edge is it? Looks like a very even v-edge to me.

I would also like to see more pics later too.

Either way, it looks great, honest!:)

Maybe I should Rolf :)

It is convex formed about an inch above the platen so there was not much slack. I was going for a "flatter" edge than normal.

Thanks again guys.

Thanks Rolf. I think this is the best I have done so far. Good thing my practice knives (ASH CG/FBMLE) are beaters:D

I am really glad I finally got up the nerve to sharpen this one up right. It makes it a completely different knife:thumbup:

I love the ASH-1 LE's, and yours is about the best I've seen. I don't think you could do a better job, well maybe you could but I certainly couldn't.

I'll take it.......
